Job description

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver-The World's Most Experienced Driver-to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo's fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. Waymo's Supply Chain and Manufacturing teams are making the technology of the future a reality. We handle all production processes and supplier development strategies: from contracts and purchasing, to designs for improved manufacturing, through quality control and delivery. We collaborate actively with Waymo engineering teams as well as external suppliers and partners to make sure everything is built to spec and delivered on time to meet the rising demands of our business.

This role follows a hybrid work schedule and you will report to a Head of Vehicle/SDS Supply Planning & Materials.

You will:

  • Global Network Architecture: Design and manage complex multi-modal domestic and international transportation networks to move autonomous vehicles and sensitive technical components across global deployment nodes.
  • Team Scaling & Mentorship: Recruit, design, and scale the Logistics organization from the ground up while mentoring internal talent.
  • Financial Oversight & Cost Reduction: Own macro-level logistics financial planning and execute cost-reduction protocols without sacrificing pipeline velocity.
  • Reverse Logistics & Asset Lifecycle: Implement closed-loop and reverse logistics protocols for high-value asset tracking, return-to-vendor (RTV) processes, and sensor retrofitting cycles.
  • Systems Integration & Data Accuracy: Drive the adoption of advanced TMS and ERP platforms to maintain strict tracking and ensure the accuracy of logistics master data.
  • Trade Compliance & Tariff Strategy: Establish internal controls for global trade compliance (export controls, sanctions) and architect tariff mitigation and duty drawback strategies.

You have:

  • 10+ years of scaling logistics leadership experience, ideally within tech-forward manufacturing, autonomous vehicles, electric vehicles, or aerospace industries.
  • Proven track record of building, scaling, and mentoring a top-tier logistics team from empty headcount structures into cohesive, high-performing units.
  • Advanced operational command of global transportation networks, including international ocean/air freight forwarding, domestic trucking nodes, and international customs frameworks.
  • Strong strategic capability to think long-term about supply chain infrastructure while executing micro-level solutions to support immediate operations.
  • Exceptional cross-functional relationship-building skills to drive alignment across distinct program management, demand forecasting, and hardware engineering pillars.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Research, Engineering, or an equivalent quantitative discipline.

We prefer:

  • Deep automotive industry experience navigating tier-1 supplier freight flows, specialized vehicle transportation, production parts scheduling, or automotive aftermarket distribution.
  • Master's degree or MBA with a focus on global logistics, supply chain networks, or international trade operations.
