osition Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Logistics to lead and optimize all logistics, transportation, warehousing, and distribution operations for our facility. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring efficient movement of goods, operational excellence, cost control, and high service levels while supporting company growth objectives.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on operations leader with strong experience in supply chain management, team leadership, process improvement, and logistics strategy within a fast-paced distribution or manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics & Distribution Leadership
  • Direct daily logistics and transportation operations including inbound, outbound, and warehouse activities
  • Oversee shipping, receiving, inventory management, routing, freight coordination, and carrier relationships
  • Develop and implement scalable logistics strategies that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and support business growth
  • Ensure on-time delivery performance and customer satisfaction metrics are consistently achieved
Operational Excellence
  • Analyze operational KPIs and logistics performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization, productivity, and cost reduction
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, operational controls, and logistics workflows
  • Partner with warehouse, procurement, customer service, and sales teams to align operational objectives
Financial & Strategic Management
  • Manage logistics budgets, labor planning, forecasting, and expense control
  • Negotiate transportation contracts and manage third-party logistics providers
  • Support capital planning, equipment utilization, and facility optimization initiatives
  • Provide regular operational reporting and strategic recommendations to executive leadership
Leadership & Compliance
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop high-performing logistics and warehouse teams
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, collaboration, and operational excellence
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, safety regulations, and company policies
  • Lead workforce planning initiatives to support peak seasons and business expansion
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive logistics, warehouse, or supply chain leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of transportation, distribution, inventory control, and warehouse operations
  • Experience managing large teams in high-volume environments
  • Proven success driving operational improvements and cost-saving initiatives
  • Experience with ERP systems, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and logistics software
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies preferred
  • Experience with unionized workforces is a plus
