So, what does a Silvi Materials Head of Logistics do?

The Head of Logistics is responsible for leading and optimizing all logistics operations across the ready-mix organization to ensure the safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of products and services. This position provides strategic leadership for dispatch, fleet operations, transportation planning, customer service coordination, and logistics process improvement. One works cross-functionally with operations, sales, quality control, plant management, and executive leadership to maximize customer satisfaction, improve operational performance, reduce costs, and support EBITDA growth initiatives

Position Essential Functions Responsibilities

Lead and oversee all logistics operations, including dispatching, fleet utilization, transportation planning, scheduling, and delivery execution across multiple plants and markets.

Develop and execute logistics strategies focused on increasing operational efficiency, improving asset utilization, and reducing transportation costs.

Drive initiatives that contribute to EBITDA growth through improved productivity, route optimization, fleet management, and process enhancements.

Partner with sales, quality control, operations, and plant leadership to ensure customer expectations and service commitments are met.

Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to:

      • Delivery performance
      • Fleet utilizationto increase operational efficiency, improve asset utilization, and reduce
      • Hauling costs
      • On-time delivery percentages
      • Driver productivity
      • Customer satisfaction
      • Safety metrics

Analyze operational data and trends to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.

Develop and implement standard operating procedures and best practices across logistics functions.

Lead, coach, and develop dispatch, customer service, and logistics personnel while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Ensure compliance with all company policies and applicable DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, and safety regulations.

Collaborate with maintenance teams to maximize fleet availability and reduce downtime.

Support technology implementation and continuous improvement efforts related to dispatch systems, fleet tracking, reporting tools, and operational software.

Establish and cultivate strong customer relationships by partnering with customers to understand operational needs, resolve challenges, improve service performance, and create long-term value for both the customer and the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Management, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
  •  7-10+ years of progressive leadership experience in logistics, transportation, dispatch, or operations management.
  • Experience in the ready mix concrete, construction materials, aggregates, or related industries strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-site operations and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of fleet management, dispatching operations, DOT regulations, and transportation best practices.
  • Proven ability to analyze data and translate insights into operational improvements.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
