GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Director of Educational Technology and Online Learning provides strategic leadership, vision, and oversight for the development, implementation, and evaluation of Bennett College’s online learning initiatives and instructional technology. The Director supports faculty and students in leveraging technology to enhance teaching, learning, and student success across all modalities. This role ensures that online and hybrid programs meet institutional quality standards, accreditation expectations, and national best practices, while advancing access, innovation, and retention goals aligned with the College’s mission.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Strategic Leadership and Online Learning Development
  • Provide strategic direction for the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of online and hybrid learning programs.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Academic Officer and Dean of Faculty to align online learning initiatives with academic program goals and accreditation standards.
  • Lead the development of policies, procedures, and best practices for online instruction, course design, and faculty engagement.
  • Oversee course development schedules, instructional design processes, and quality assurance reviews for online programs.
  • Coordinate online program assessment to support retention and graduation outcomes.
Faculty Support and Professional Development
  • Provide leadership in faculty training related to educational technology, instructional design, and online pedagogy.
  • Develop and facilitate professional development workshops and certification programs for online teaching excellence.
  • Support faculty in integrating multimedia, accessibility, and interactive learning tools into online and on-campus courses.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology and Library Services to ensure technical support and digital resource access for faculty and students.
Student Success and Learning Support
  • Collaborate with the Division of Student Success to design and deliver student orientation and training for online learning environments.
  • Ensure equitable access to digital learning materials and online support services.
  • Monitor online student engagement, persistence, and success metrics, implementing interventions as needed to improve outcomes.
  • Coordinate with Counseling, Accessibility Services, and Career Services to integrate student support resources into online platforms.
Technology Integration and Innovation
  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and evaluation of learning management systems (LMS) and instructional technologies.
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions that enhance teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Manage digital learning platforms, including Canvas, Zoom, and related instructional tools.
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility, copyright, and data privacy regulations.
Data-Driven Leadership and Continuous Improvement
  • Use data analytics to assess online course effectiveness, student engagement, and learning outcomes.
  • Prepare reports on online learning progress, faculty participation, and student success indicators for accreditation and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with Institutional Effectiveness to assess technology impact on retention and graduation rates.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Strategic planning and implementation of technology-enhanced learning.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards related to distance education.
  • Ability to build and sustain faculty and staff collaboration.
  • Strong technical proficiency with learning management systems and digital tools.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Master’s degree in Technology, Instructional Design, Higher Education Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in online learning management, instructional design, or academic technology leadership in higher education.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and assessing online or hybrid academic programs.
  • Experience training faculty in digital pedagogy and course design best practices.
  • Strong project management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student-centered learning.
