Job description

We believe good work can create meaningful change. We’re a behavior change marketing and community engagement agency that helps organizations and communities inform, inspire and move people to action on some of today’s most important challenges. And behind that work is a business that needs to run just as thoughtfully as the work we deliver.

We’re looking for an Agency Operations & Finance Manager who can help us do that. This is a role for someone who understands how an agency works: the connection between people, projects, budgets, systems, and profitability, and how getting those things right helps everyone do better work.

You’ll be part agency operator, part financial leader, and part problem-solver.
You’ll keep our financial foundation strong while helping us improve how we plan, work, and make decisions. If you’re someone who likes making the numbers work and making the work
work even better, we’d love to hear from you.

Position Summary

The Agency Operations & Finance Manager plays a central role in keeping SE2’s business running effectively, efficiently, and profitably. This position connects agency operations, financial management, project performance, systems, and people processes — helping leadership and teams understand how the business is performing and where we can improve.

Reporting to the CEO, this role oversees agency financial operations, project profitability and forecasting, Workamajig administration, and key business and employee operations. The ideal candidate understands how a project-based agency works and how scopes, staffing, utilization, billing, budgets, and systems come together to create a healthy business.

Accounting is an important part of the role, including oversight of financial reporting, cash flow, close, compliance, and internal controls. Just as important is the ability to turn financial and operational information into better agency processes, stronger project performance, and smarter business decisions.

Key Job Functions:

  • Manage agency operations & project performance
  • Lead financial management & client billing
  • Oversee business systems and administration
  • Team leadership

    • Experience in an advertising/marketing agency, professional services firm or similar project-driven business is strongly preferred.
    • Strong understanding of project budgets, scopes, staffing, utilization, billing, forecasting, and profitability.
    • Experience overseeing financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and month-end processes.
    • Ability to translate financial and operational data into practical recommendations for leaders and teams.
    • Experience improving business processes, workflows, and systems.
    • Experience with agency management, ERP or accounting systems; Workamajig experience preferred.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
    • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
