Job description

1LUX is a holding company overseeing four lighting-related subsidiaries, with combined annual revenue of approximately $24 million. Our portfolio of brands is supported by a lean, high-performing team of 19 employees and 4 partners. We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Controller to own the financial operations across our subsidiary structure and help build the infrastructure to support continued growth. The Role 1LUX is seeking a Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations across our four subsidiaries. This role will manage a Senior Accountant (3 years with the company) and a part-time Accounts Payable support person, while working closely with ownership on financial reporting, consolidations, and process improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for a Controller who enjoys multi-entity accounting and wants a seat at the table in a growing, entrepreneurial organization. Own month-end and year-end close processes across all four subsidiaries Prepare and review consolidated financial statements for the holding company and each subsidiary Manage, mentor, and develop a Senior Accountant and part-time AP Specialist Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions Maintain and improve internal controls across entities Manage cash flow forecasting and reporting for the group Serve as the primary point of contact for external tax preparers, auditors, and banking relationships Lead budgeting and forecasting processes in partnership with leadership and partners Own and optimize NetSuite as the company's ERP system, including reporting, workflows, and multi-entity configuration Identify and implement process improvements to scale accounting operations as the company grows Leverage AI and automation tools to streamline accounting workflows, reduce manual effort, and drive efficiency across the close, reporting, and AP/AR processes Provide financial analysis and ad hoc reporting to support strategic decision-making by ownership Qualifications 8-12 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 3-5 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role Experience managing accounting across multiple entities or subsidiaries strongly preferred Required: hands-on experience with NetSuite Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required CPA preferred, not required Strong people management skills with experience leading and developing direct reports Excellent communication skills; comfortable working directly with owners/partners High attention to detail balanced with the ability to see the big picture across a multi-brand organization Comfortable operating in a lean, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment Interest in exploring and applying AI tools to improve efficiency in accounting and finance operations Compensation and Benefits Base salary: $115,000-$125,000, commensurate with experience Eligible for annual performance and tenure bonus Medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus company-paid life insurance and short- and long-term disability 401(k) with company match at 1 year Unlimited PTO, paid holidays and flexible schedule Annual wellness benefit, professional development assistance and cell-phone stipend #J-18808-Ljbffr
