Carpenter Co has an immediate opening for a CAD Specialist position at our Taylorsville, NC manufacturing plant reporting to the Branch Manager.
Job Summary:
Responsible for initial entry and maintenance of all contour cutting operations as it pertains to programming of machines and training of operators. Provide necessary information for the Pattern Costing Systems. Scan completed drawings into data base for use as paperless shop floor specs.
Position Scope:
Frequent communication with various members of production crew, sales, and management. Constant communication with operators to verify production schedule. Works in an office environment as well as a normal production environment with exposure to temperature changes. Major challenge of the position involves accurately entering cutting patterns and insuring best material yield
Requisites :
Education:
Major duties and responsibilities of the job can be satisfactorily performed with a high school education or GED.
Experience:
Some previous machine operation experience is required to perform the job. On the job training is provided. Computer experience preferred.

Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
Responsible for initial entry and maintenance of all contour cutting operations that pertains to programming of machine. Enter all parts into the CAD system for the contour cutters.
Performs general clerical duties, routine data entry necessary for the patterns costing systems and order entry.
Routinely corresponds with productions crew, sales, management.
Assign cutting definitions including start entry exit transition and lower cutting path.
Maintain part entry accuracy.
Assist in maintaining the pattern costing system. Add and update parts specifications change.
Insure the latest product revisions are up to date and loaded on the appropriate cutting machine.
Minimum Qualifications:
Six month CAD experience a must.
Read and interpret a tape measure.
Training for this job will require six months to one year.
Computer familiarity with CAD experiences.
Strong math skills.
Ability to grasp computer operations.
Must have knowledge of Word, Excel and CAD experience.
Non-Essential Functions:
Troubleshoot problems with contour cutters. Repair if possible. Isolate problem for mechanic or technician to repair.
Train new operators and cross train present operators on contour cutters.
Assist department manager in producing initial prototype.
