Job description

Job Overview

As the Manager of Loan Operations, you will serve as the operational leader and process architect for AvidXchange's commercial lending operational ecosystem. In this player-coach role, you will directly lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of Loan Account Analysts while ensuring absolute precision in money movement, ledgering, and financial reconciliations. You will act as the strategic, cross-functional bridge between Treasury, Treasury Operations, and Accounting to safeguard capital flows, improve internal controls, and protect the system from operational risk. This role is built for a data-driven leader who can balance high-volume transactional accuracy with the ability to build and continuous-improve workflows from scratch in a fast-paced fintech environment.

What You'll Do

  • People Leadership & Coaching: Provide direct day-to-day guidance, performance feedback, and mentorship to a team of Loan Account Analysts (P1-P3); manage workload distribution, establish clear team priorities, and actively develop talent to build future operational bench strength.
  • Process Architecture & Operations: Design, document, and enforce end-to-end workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, and rigid internal controls for core loan actions, including money movement, ledgering, disputes, and incident response.
  • SLA & Quality Oversight: Monitor comprehensive workflows to guarantee the accuracy, completeness, and timely execution of complex loan and cash transactions within the loan management system in strict accordance with established SLAs and quality metrics.
  • Financial Integrity & Reconciliation: Supervise and review comprehensive reconciliations, ledger journal entries, and discrepancy resolutions prepared by the analyst team to ensure total data integrity.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary operational point of contact and liaison connecting Treasury, Treasury Operations, and Accounting to seamlessly coordinate loan-related capital movement, compliance reporting, and audit requirements.
  • Reporting & Risk Mitigation: Prepare and present performance analytics, risk assessments, and process recommendations to senior stakeholders and leadership; serve as the core subject-matter expert on special cross-functional projects, system upgrades, or technical implementations.

What We're Looking For

  • Professional Experience: 5+ years of experience within loan operations, commercial lending, or specialized B2B financial services, featuring a proven track record of at least 1-2 years in a formal leadership, supervisory, or player-coach role.
  • Educational Foundation: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related business field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Technical & System Fluency: Strong working knowledge of dedicated loan management systems, ERP architecture, and advanced financial reconciliation processes, paired with highly advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Acumen: Exceptional analytical skills with intense attention to detail, capable of translating complex transactional anomalies or process gaps into structured, sustainable workflow solutions.
  • Communication & Executive Presence: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize operational data into clear narratives, enabling smooth collaboration and influence across various internal departments and senior executive forums.
  • Organizational Instincts: Highly organized project management capabilities; comfortable driving process improvements independently, establishing clear metrics, and executing under tight daily, monthly, and quarterly closing deadlines.
