Job description

URUS is a global family of agricultural businesses operating across more than 80 countries. Through genetics, reproduction technologies, animal health solutions, and precision management platforms, we help producers make better decisions and build more productive, sustainable herds.

We're entering an exciting next stage in our AI journey and are looking for a Director of Artificial Intelligence to build and lead our enterprise AI capability. Reporting to the SVP of Digital & AI, this leader will establish the structure, team, governance, and priorities that enable URUS to turn AI opportunities into meaningful business outcomes across our global organization.

What You'll Do

  • Build and lead URUS's enterprise AI capability and growing multidisciplinary AI team.

  • Define and execute the enterprise AI strategy, roadmap, operating model, and governance framework.

  • Establish a structured process for identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing AI opportunities across the organization.

  • Partner with business leaders to turn high-value opportunities into scalable AI solutions.

  • Lead initiatives from discovery and pilot through production, adoption, and measurable business impact.

  • Provide technical direction across generative AI, agentic AI, predictive analytics, computer vision, automation, and emerging capabilities.

  • Guide AI platform, vendor, and build/buy/partner decisions.

  • Establish responsible AI standards and appropriate controls around privacy, security, risk, and governance.

  • Manage AI investments and ensure resources are focused on opportunities with the greatest potential value.

  • Build AI understanding and adoption across the organization through education, experimentation, and change leadership.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of progressive experience across AI, data, digital transformation, product, technology, or enterprise transformation.

  • 5+ years leading AI, data, analytics, automation, or digital product initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience building, scaling, or transforming an enterprise technology or AI capability.

  • Proven leadership experience, including building teams and leading complex cross-functional initiatives.

  • Experience taking AI or advanced analytics solutions from concept through production and adoption.

  • Strong working knowledge of modern AI/ML, including generative AI, LLMs, agentic AI, predictive analytics, and enterprise AI platforms.

  • Experience establishing governance, prioritization, and value-tracking processes.

  • Strong business judgment and the ability to connect technology investments to measurable business outcomes.

  • Executive-level communication and the ability to lead change across a complex organization.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, business, engineering, or a related field.

An MBA or advanced technical degree is strongly preferred. Experience in agriculture, dairy, genetics, animal health, or precision livestock technology is a plus.

Why URUS?

This is an opportunity to build, not simply maintain.

URUS has strong executive sponsorship for AI, a growing pipeline of opportunities, and the commitment to build an internal AI center of excellence. You'll have the opportunity to shape the team, strategy, operating model, technology choices, governance, and portfolio that define how AI creates value across our global organization.

If you've helped an organization turn emerging technology into a scalable business capability and are excited by the opportunity to build what's next, we'd like to hear from you.

As a holding company with cooperative and private ownership, URUS is a family of businesses at the heart of the dairy and beef industry - Alta Genetics, GENEX, Genetics Australia, Leachman Cattle, Jetstream, PEAK, SCCL, Trans Ova Genetics and VAS.  Each organization has its unique identity, products, and services. These companies work globally to provide cutting-edge dairy and beef genetics, customized reproductive services to maximize conceptions, dairy management information to take producers to the frontline of progressive dairy farming, and an array of products and services to help bovines reach their full genetic potential. URUS has 9 brands in 17 retail countries and employs nearly 2,800 people globally.
