Job description

Operations Supervisor

Transdev in San Diego, CA is hiring a reliable, proactive Operations Supervisor to oversee both dispatch and customer service functions. This position plays a key role in ensuring that transit service is delivered smoothly, customer concerns are handled efficiently, and internal teams are supported and led effectively. You will act as the senior-most authority on-site during nights, weekends, and holidays—helping to keep operations safe, on time, and passenger-focused.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily functions of the dispatch office and call center, including staff oversight and service coordination
  • Oversee route performance, on-time metrics, and make real-time adjustments to prevent service disruptions
  • Respond to and resolve customer complaints, missed trips, and no-shows professionally and timely
  • Ensure accurate logging and investigation of service-related comments or issues
  • Dispatch drivers and ensure road service coverage, especially during emergencies or unexpected vehicle failures
  • Serve as the point of contact for senior management, MTS officials, and maintenance staff during off-peak hours
  • Manage driver scheduling, review PTO requests, and monitor staffing levels
  • Train, mentor, and guide dispatchers, schedulers, and reservationists
  • Maintain compliance with internal policies and external regulations (MTS, ADA, etc.)
  • Perform trip edit, fare reconciliation, and complete administrative duties as assigned
  • Provide hands-on support during peak periods or staffing shortages, including clerical or driver tasks if required

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a dispatch or customer service environment
  • Dispatch experience required
  • Familiarity with Trapeze PASS or similar scheduling software preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving, multitasking, and decision-making abilities
  • Experience working with people with disabilities preferred
  • Commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

  • Indoor office environment with extended periods of computer/desk work
  • Must be able to communicate by phone and in person
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Minimal travel required
