Zayo is a managed network service provider focused on the emerging SDN market. As a pioneer in the SD-WAN segment, ZAYO has the platform and the expertise to help enterprises quickly transition from inefficient legacy networks to SDN-based operations resulting in the lower total cost of ownership while improving reliability, application performance, and network security.

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the network infrastructure of our customers to ensure maximum uptime for their users. The role can include design, configuration, documentation and troubleshooting network related items ranging from basic to complex. The Network Engineer is the primary escalation point for the ZAYO NOC for all related support issues. This position will be primarily focused on our Prisma SD-WAN solution but may include additional SD-WAN & LAN solutions.

Work Authorization Requirement: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization, such as OPT, TN, H1B or any other type of work visa, now or in the future.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing Prisma SD-WAN network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
  • Installing, configuring, and supporting of Prisma SD-WAN network equipment.
  • Maintain best practice documentation and other reference materials as needed to document procedures, and methods for the engineering team.
  • Report network status to key stakeholders and leadership teams
  • Provide assistance as needed to team members and operations teams for implementations, troubleshooting and repair of network installation and deployments.
  • Providing courteous and professional communication with internal departments, customers, and vendors
  • Ensuring ZAYO Networks' standards are followed from beginning-to-end for each client and internal department interaction
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems.
  • Work escalations from the ZAYO NOC Support teams to troubleshoot issues and outages
  • Work in the On Call engineering rotation
  • Work after-hours installations and maintenance
  • Customer facing position, responsible for working with other network engineering teams,
  • Minimal travel - Company Wide meetings and customer visits (travel <5%).
  • Other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Network Engineering configuration and troubleshooting experience with exposure to the following areas:
    • Required, strong knowledge of Prisma SD-WAN (Palo Alto) edge Networking & Security.
      • Minimum of one (1) year experience designing and installing Prisma SD-WAN
    • Desired Prisma SD-WAN certification
    • Desired (not required) SD-WAN experience VMware, Versa and/or Fortinet
    • Knowledge of Network Diagnostics, protocols, and disciplines, BGP, OSPF, QoS, SNMP, VLANS, STP and VRF-LITE.
    • Strong IPv4 subnetting knowledge and knowledge of IPv6 addressing.
    • Knowledge of edge network security, encryption technologies & best practices.
    • Ability to explain network related issues to both technical and non-technical internal and external teams
    • Ability to troubleshoot networks at an expert level.
  • Must be able to meet applicable U.S. government security and access requirements, including obtaining and maintaining a security clearance or other authorization if required for assigned FedRAMP or federal government work and contracts.

Education:

  • Current CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of professional or military experience.

Experience:

  • Four (4) or more years of experience providing Tier 3 Support within an Internet Service Provider (ISP) or Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment; or
  • Two (2) or more years of experience as a Network Engineer (or in a more senior networking role) supporting enterprise customers of varying sizes.

Total Base Pay Range: $77,100 - $118,600

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.


Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
