Job description

Overview

NETRIO is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer with deep hands-on expertise in Fortinet technologies, including FortiGate firewalls, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and related security platforms. The ideal candidate will also have solid experience with Cisco and/or Palo Alto network and security products. This role requires expert-level knowledge of firewalls, routing, switching, VPN, SD-WAN, wireless networking, and advanced troubleshooting across complex hybrid environments.

This engineer will serve as a senior technical resource for customer projects, escalations, and architecture discussions, and must be confident communicating directly with executive leadership (C-level), technical staff, and business stakeholders. The candidate will play a key role in designing secure, scalable network solutions and ensuring highly reliable operations for NETRIO’s clients.


Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork Architecture amp; Engineering
  • Design, deploy, and support advanced network solutions using Fortinet security and networking platforms (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiAP, FortiSwitch, etc.).

  • Architect secure, resilient, and scalable network infrastructures across multi-site and hybrid environments.

  • Configure and manage firewalls, SD-WAN, IPS/IDS, VPN solutions, and segmentation strategies.

  • Implement and optimize routing and switching (OSPF, BGP, static routing, VLANs, Layer 2/3 architectures).

  • Deploy and manage wireless networks using Fortinet, Cisco, and/or Palo Alto wireless technologies.

Advanced Support amp; Escalations
  • Serve as Tier 3 escalation point for complex network issues across customer environments.

  • Troubleshoot end-to-end connectivity, performance, security, and routing problems.

  • Perform packet captures, flow analysis, and deep-dive diagnostics across multi-vendor platforms.

Security amp; Compliance
  • Ensure networks follow security best practices, including segmentation, hardening, and secure remote access.

  • Configure and maintain security profiles (web filtering, application control, AV, IPS/IDS, SSL inspection).

  • Assist with compliance initiatives (PCI, HIPAA, SOC, etc.) as they relate to secure networking design.

Customer Engagement amp; Communication
  • Lead technical discussions with C-suite executives, directors, IT managers, and business leaders.

  • Present architecture recommendations, roadmaps, and project deliverables in a clear and professional manner.

  • Provide written documentation, network diagrams, post-migration reports, and runbooks.


Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in network engineering roles.

  • Deep expertise in Fortinet platforms (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer).

  • Strong proficiency in networking: routing, switching, VLANs, VPN, SD-WAN, wireless, and network security.

  • Experience with Cisco and/or Palo Alto firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless solutions.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with network troubleshooting, performance tuning, and packet-level analysis.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with C-suite executives.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced MSP environment supporting multiple customers and technologies.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Fortinet NSE certifications (NSE 4, NSE 5, NSE 6, or NSE 7).

  • Cisco certifications (CCNP Security, CCNP Enterprise, etc.).

  • Palo Alto certifications (PCNSA, PCNSE).

  • Experience with Fortinet SD-WAN architectures and zero-touch provisioning.

  • Understanding of cloud networking (Azure, AWS) and integrations with firewalls.

  • Experience in an MSP or consulting environment.
