Junior Network Engineer – Boca Raton, FL / Nationwide (Remote or Hybrid)

FLAGLER TECHNOLOGIES MSP Team
United States

Who Are We?

We’re more than just an IT support provider—we’re a team committed to delivering exceptional service while fostering growth and development within our ranks. Our mission is to empower the next generation of IT professionals by creating opportunities for leadership and career advancement.

As our Managed Services practice continues to grow, we’re looking for aJunior Network Engineer who has a strong networking foundation and is ready to continue building their skills across a variety of technologies, vendors, and client environments. This role is designed to provide a development path toward becoming aSenior Network Engineer as your technical skills, ownership, and experience continue to grow.

What Does a Typical Day Look Like in This Role?

As aJunior Network Engineer, you will help support and maintain network infrastructure across our managed client environments. You’ll troubleshoot network issues, monitor performance, assist with changes and upgrades, and work with senior engineers as you continue developing your networking skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Troubleshooting switching, routing, wireless, firewall, VPN, and connectivity issues.
  • Monitoring network health, performance, and availability.
  • Assisting with network changes, firmware upgrades, and scheduled maintenance.
  • Maintaining accurate technical documentation.
  • Collaborating with senior engineers, clients, and vendors.

Schedule: This is primarily a daytime position, with regularly scheduledevening, overnight, and/or weekend maintenance as needed.

What Qualifications or Experience Do I Need?

For this role, you should have hands-on experience innetwork engineering, network administration, or a similar networking-focused position. You should have a strong understanding of networking fundamentals and be comfortable troubleshooting real-world network issues.

We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate experience or working knowledge in areas including:

  • Switching and routing fundamentals.
  • VLANs, STP, IPsec, HSRP/VRRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11 wireless, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and QoS.
  • OSI and TCP/IP models.
  • Enterprise switches, routers, wireless infrastructure, and firewalls.
  • Network troubleshooting involving connectivity, routing, switching, performance, and infrastructure issues.
  • Network monitoring, diagnostic, configuration management, and traffic analysis tools.
  • Network firmware and software upgrades.
  • Production network changes and maintenance activities.
  • Developing and following implementation, testing, validation, and rollback procedures.
  • Maintaining configuration backups and recovery procedures.
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation, procedures, and network diagrams.

Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills are important, but communication is equally important. You’ll need to clearly document your work, communicate with clients and other engineers, manage multiple priorities, and know when an issue should be escalated.

You must also be comfortable working in an MSP environment where you may supportmultiple clients, network architectures, vendors, and management platforms rather than focusing on a single network environment.

What Will Help You Stand Out?

ACisco CCNA or equivalent practical networking experience is strongly desired. ACCNP or equivalent advanced networking experience is a plus.

Additional experience that will help you stand out includes:

  • Cisco Catalyst switching.
  • Aruba networking technologies.
  • Aruba Central.
  • MSP or multi-client networking environments.
  • Enterprise, hospitality, or multi-site networks.
  • Large-scale firmware or network infrastructure upgrade projects.
  • Formal incident, problem, configuration, and change management processes.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who ishumble, hungry, and people smart. You should be comfortable asking questions, learning from more senior engineers, sharing what you learn with others, and progressively taking ownership as your skills develop.

This position is specifically intended for an engineer who wants to continue developing their networking career.

You’ll have opportunities to train and cross-train across multiple networking technologies and vendor platforms, participate in knowledge transfer with Senior Network Engineers, and gain exposure to increasingly complex network environments.

We expect our engineers to document and share newly acquired knowledge, pursue relevant technical training and certifications, and continually expand their capabilities rather than becoming dependent on a single vendor or technology.

As you demonstrate technical competency, reliability, ownership, strong client communication, and the ability to independently manage increasingly complex environments, the goal is to provide a defined path toward aSenior Network Engineer position.

This is primarily adaytime position, with normal troubleshooting, monitoring, planning, testing, documentation, and engineering responsibilities performed during regular business hours.

Because network maintenance and production changes frequently need to occur outside normal business hours, you will also be expected toregularly participate in scheduled evening, overnight, and/or weekend maintenance activities.

After-hours maintenance will generally be scheduled in advance, and engineers are expected to appropriately plan their workload around these activities. Critical vulnerabilities, zero-day remediation, or emergency network conditions may occasionally require work outside of normally scheduled maintenance windows.

What Else Should You Know About Us?
  • 3 Weeks of Paid Time Off (vacation and sick time accrued, subject to manager approval).
  • Healthcare Options with 75% of your premium covered.
  • Group Life Insurance.
  • 401k with up to 4% matching and immediate vesting.
  • Access to industry training and certification reimbursement to support your continued growth.

Devices that access company resources will need to be managed by us while being used for work purposes. A company computer and peripherals will be provided. You'll need a personal cell phone for multi-factor authentication and a reliable internet connection—we even provide a stipend for this.

Thanks for considering a position with us!
