RN Senior Surgical CoordinatorPosition Summary

Midwest Vision Partners is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented RN Senior Surgical Coordinator to provide clinical and operational support to our ophthalmologists and surgical teams across the perioperative process.

In this role, you will be at the center of surgical workflows-coordinating patient care from pre-op through discharge while ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient surgical operations.

RN license required.

What You Will Be Working On
  • Coordinate patient movement and flow through Pre-Op, testing areas, and the Operating Room, ensuring a smooth and efficient surgical day
  • Deliver direct patient care across all phases of the perioperative process, including admissions, intraoperative support, anesthesia recovery, and discharge
  • Assist the surgeon with clinical tasks and operative procedures, including preparation and handling of instruments, devices, and intraocular lenses
  • Manage patient charts, operative documentation, and diagnosis/procedure code selection to maintain medical record accuracy and compliance
  • Assess patient understanding of their procedure and provide pre- and post-operative teaching tailored to individual needs
  • Communicate proactively with patients, families, and the surgical team-using translation services when needed-to ensure clarity and coordination throughout care
  • Maintain aseptic technique, infection control standards, and safe medication administration practices
  • Select, organize, and manage surgical equipment and supplies based on patient needs and surgeon preference cards, anticipating needs before they arise
  • Participate in quality assurance (QAPI) initiatives to support patient safety and continuous improvement
  • Serve as a resource and role model for clinical staff, supporting orientation and training of new team members

What Will Make You Awesome
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Strong communicator-written and verbal-with a professional, courteous demeanor that builds trust with physicians, patients, and staff
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess, prioritize, and act quickly while maintaining safe patient outcomes
  • Proactive and anticipatory in your approach-you stay one step ahead of surgical workflow needs without being asked
  • Committed to continuous learning and professional development, and willing to serve as a resource and mentor for peers

What You Know

To be successful in this role, you will have the following experience or knowledge:

  • Current Ohio RN license and BLS certification required
  • 2+ years of clinical experience with an emphasis in PACU, surgery, or critical care
  • Working knowledge of ASC or hospital operating room environments, including perioperative care coordination
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards, medical record policy, and compliance requirements in a surgical setting
  • ACLS preferred
