Meyocks is searching for a Public Relations Intern ready to use their skills to jump headfirst into an agency life. You’ll work with a senior public relations strategist and do things that help brands mean more.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in learning the fundamentals of public relations within a fast-paced, collaborative agency environment.

Job Summary:

The Public Relations Intern will support the Meyocks team in assisting with media relations, copywriting, proofreading and analytics, while collaborating with internal client teams to ensure ideas are executed thoughtfully and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the PR team in developing press materials, including announcements, pitches and media alerts.
  • Support agency projects such as blog posts, award entries, internal thought leadership initiatives, and speaking opportunity tracking.
  • Create, maintain and organize databases for media contacts, events, awards and editorials.
  • Stay current on client industries and relevant publications; share key insights with the team.
  • Conduct research projects and clearly communicate findings with team members.
  • Support proactive media pitching and respond to incoming media inquiries.
  • Assist with daily media monitoring, (monthly/quarterly) reporting and tracking of key PR metrics.
  • Monitor trends to identify timely opportunities to align clients with relevant stories.
  • Conduct phone calls to media to confirm receipt of media alerts and encourage coverage of client’s news releases and contributed content.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience writing and editing content in AP style with consistency and accuracy
  • Proficient across Microsoft Office platforms
  • Strong fact-checking skills and attention to details
  • Experience with Cision, clipping services and mail merge
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and deadline-oriented
  • Comfortable with interacting with key media contacts over the phone and email
  • Ability to build relationships and credibility with media contacts and fellow team members
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and open to feedback 

Education and Experience:

  • A student working towards a bachelor's degree in advertising, communications, public relations, marketing or related fields.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office and project management software, such as Asana.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience through internships, campus activities, volunteering, class work or transferable work experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Internship can be remote, in-person or hybrid.
  • Looking for intern to work up to 20 hours per week.
  • Meyocks can be flexible with hours to accommodate class schedules.
