Job Description


We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Energy Engineer to join our team in Woodbridge, New Jersey. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting energy audits, data collection and entry, feasibility studies, engineering assessments, and providing program-related support activities. This crucial role also involves conducting on-site inspections, design support, reviewing technical documents, and participating in construction management. The Energy Engineer will play a vital role in ensuring our projects realize their energy savings and meet all regulatory standards.


Job Responsibilities


• Perform onsite inspections, including detailed data collection and performance testing.

• Prepare site investigation, preliminary design, and due diligence reports, including review of ordinances, utility service research, outside agency regulations, and onsite visits to establish comprehensive development guidelines.

• Provide thorough education to end users regarding energy efficiency; field and answer related questions.

• As a subject matter expert, be responsible for project coordination with the client, other consultants, contractors, and the project team to prepare a comprehensive site plan application.

• Ensure technical aspects of work are performed following applicable regulations or project plans.

• Investigate problems in construction or renovation projects.

• Provide technical assistance to customers, contractors, and other stakeholders, including support with energy savings calculations and meeting program requirements.

• Support and promote relationships with industry and solution partners to maximize project implementation, promote efficiency, and educate customers while sustaining a robust program pipeline.

• Prepare written correspondence to outside agencies, clients, contractors, etc.

• Perform site visits to verify the appropriate installation of recommended measures.

• Monitor new products and technologies related to this industry for ongoing and future projects.

• Stay informed about energy issues and industry trends through regular technical reading and participation in local and national professional organizations.

• Provide thorough education to end users regarding energy efficiency, field and answer related questions.

• Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


Bachelor’s or master’s in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Energy). Other engineering disciplines will be considered.

• Demonstrated interest in energy efficiency is must.

• A minimum of 1 year of relevant engineering or fieldwork experience required; 2 to 5 years are preferred.

• Must reside in New Jersey.

• Demonstrated knowledge of Lighting and Lighting Controls, HVAC Equipment, Building Management System (BMS) and Building Envelope Components.

• Demonstrated experience with energy codes and standards (IECC, ASHRAE, etc.) and Energy Star components.

• Knowledge of ASHRAE level energy auditing

• Must be able to lead and perform on-site and virtual audits and customer site visits in various environments, including commercial, industrial, school, and government facilities.

• Strong project management skills with the ability to set priorities, collect and document project requirements, successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to maintain and operate personal and/or company vehicles with a valid driver’s license.

• Must be willing and able to travel within the tri-state area; some overnight travel may be required.

• Strong customer service capability focusing on proactively identifying customer needs and managing customer expectations.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Self-starter who can work independently or within a team environment.

• Exceptional organizational, time-management, and planning skills.


Professional Skills


• Familiar with the use of AutoCAD to assist in the production of site plan drawings.

• Knowledge of eQuest, EnergyPlus or Open Studio software is a plus.

• Proficient in using Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project and other management software. AutoCAD full proficiency is required.
