Job description

Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Division Manager, Marine Innovation Engineering to join our Marine team in Kennesaw, GA. In this role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for Yamaha's Marine Innovation Engineering (MIE) Division. You will be responsible for driving the development of next-generation marine technologies based on the software and electrical technology domain, leading a global engineering organization, and ensuring the successful execution of product development initiatives across multiple disciplines including electrical/electronic systems, software, digital user-interface, connected technologies, autonomous systems, and user experience.
The Division Manager will lead cross-functional teams across multiple regions, manage engineering resources and budgets, establish technology roadmaps, and collaborate closely with business, product planning, manufacturing, and executive leadership to deliver innovative marine products that support Yamaha's long-term growth objectives.
What you'll be doing:
  • Lead and develop the Marine Innovation Engineering Division, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Define and execute technology and product development strategies aligned with Yamaha Marine's business objectives.
  • Oversee cross-functional engineering teams spanning mechanical, electrical/electronics, software, connected, autonomous, and UX disciplines.
  • Direct the planning and execution of complex product development programs from concept through production.
  • Manage organizational resources, budgets, engineering processes, and external technology partnerships.
  • Collaborate with global stakeholders across Yamaha organizations to drive innovation and successful product launches.
  • Develop talent, establish performance objectives, and build organizational capabilities to support future business growth.

What you need to be successful:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field required.
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration (MBA) PhD in Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 15 - 20 years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including management of multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Proven experience leading complex product development programs from concept through commercialization.
  • Strong understanding of marine, automotive, or related technology industries.
  • Familiarity with software-defined products, mechatronics systems, connected systems, embedded systems, and emerging technologies.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align engineering investments with company strategy and financial objectives.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, especially engagement with the global stakeholders including Japan, and Europe.
  • Experience working in a global organization and leading geographically distributed teams.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
