The compensation for this role will be competitive and is aligned with industry standards, taking into consideration factors such as experience, education, and geographic location. The base salary range for this position is $126,500 to $159,000 (USD), exclusive of any discretionary bonuses and benefits.


MissionEdge is seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator / Infrastructure SME to support and maintain enterprise systems in a secure, mission-critical environment. This role is primarily focused on Red Hat Linux administration, server infrastructure, networking, automation, system maintenance, and troubleshooting, with responsibility for supporting applications and data services hosted across physical and virtual environments.


The ideal candidate is a hands‑on technical professional who can independently troubleshoot complex system issues, maintain reliable and secure Linux environments, automate administrative tasks, and work effectively across systems, networking, security, and application teams.


Essential Job Functions

  • Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and other Linux-based systems.

  • Install, upgrade, patch, and maintain Linux operating systems and Intel-based server systems.

  • Perform routine system health checks, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues involving Linux systems, applications, networking, and infrastructure.

  • Support servers and services across physical and virtual environments.

  • Configure and maintain system services, storage, networking, and related infrastructure.

  • Troubleshoot network connectivity and understand how TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, and network services impact application and system operations.

  • Develop and maintain Bash, Shell, and Python scripts to automate system administration and repetitive tasks.

  • Support configuration management and automated system maintenance using tools such as Ansible or Puppet.

  • Create, maintain, and restore system backups and support disaster recovery activities.

  • Apply Linux security best practices and support system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and security compliance requirements.

  • Install, configure, and support servers and infrastructure equipment in datacenter/rack-mounted environments.

  • Document system configurations, procedures, architecture, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting processes.

  • Collaborate with network, security, application, and infrastructure teams to resolve technical issues and maintain system availability.

  • Participate in scheduled and occasional after-hours maintenance windows as required.


Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Due to the nature of this position and the information that employees willbe requiredtoaccess;U.S. Citizenship isrequired.

  • Active TS/SCI w/ polygraph

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology-related discipline and 5+ years of relevant experience, or 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

  • 5+ years of hands‑on Linux systems administration experience, preferably with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

  • Strong understanding of Linux system administration, troubleshooting, installation, configuration, patching, and maintenance.

  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, UDP, routing, firewalls, and network connectivity.

  • Experience troubleshooting systems in enterprise or mission‑critical environments.

  • Experience writing and maintaining Bash/Shell and Python scripts for system administration and automation.

  • Experience with server backup, restoration, and disaster recovery processes.

  • Experience supporting physical and/or virtual server environments.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Strong written and verbal communication and documentation skills.


Desired/Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Ansible, Puppet, or other configuration‑management/automation tools.

  • Experience supporting Cisco network infrastructure and network troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity with Dell server hardware and iDRAC.

  • Experience deploying, configuring, and maintaining multiple servers in datacenter environments.

  • Familiarity with Linux security hardening, vulnerability remediation, antivirus/endpoint security, and security compliance.

  • Experience with Apache NiFi or similar data‑flow/workflow technologies.

  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch/ELK or similar logging and monitoring platforms.

  • Experience with Docker or other container technologies.

  • Familiarity with enterprise services supporting authentication, logging, and access control.

  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.

  • Experience supporting systems that host or interact with database and data‑processing applications.

  • Familiarity with network security, intrusion detection, system monitoring, and infrastructure logging.

  • Experience installing or maintaining rack‑mounted servers, storage, and network equipment.


Working Conditions

Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are normally set from Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. Additional details on the precise hours will be informed to the candidate from the Program Manager/Hiring Manager.


Employees are required to notify management in advance of any plans to relocate out of state to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable employment regulations.


Physical Requirements

May be required to lift and carry items weighting up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.


Successful Completion of a Background Screening/Check/Investigation will be required as a condition of hire.
