Job description

•       ASQ Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA) — the preferred baseline credential for this role — candidates should hold or be willing to obtain the CQIA first, at a minimum. It is an entry-level American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification designed for individuals new to the quality field, covering fundamental quality tools and team-based improvement.

•       Technical-school or community-college certificate or coursework — in Electronics Technology, Electromechanical Technology, or Quality Technology.

•       OSHA 10-Hour General Industry — a safety credential commonly earned through schooling or prior industrial employment.

•       Blueprint / engineering-drawing reading, GD&T fundamentals, or measurement-tool training — experience using calipers, micrometers, and multimeters.

The Quality Control Inspection Technician – Level 1 is an entry-level position designed for individuals who are eager to build a career in quality and electronics manufacturing. Under the direct guidance of experienced QC staff and the QC Manager, the Level 1 Technician assists with the inspection and verification of incoming materials, in-process assemblies, and finished products produced at The Company’ Clearwater, FL facility. This role provides structured, hands-on training in The Company’ quality processes, inspection techniques, and solid-state motor control product standards, building a solid foundation for career growth within our Quality and Operations team.

Key Responsibilities

Incoming Material Inspection (with supervision)

•       Assist in the inspection of incoming electronic components, parts, hardware, and subassemblies to confirm quality of workmanship and condition of received materials, under the guidance of senior QC staff.

•       Learn to review certificates of conformance and material documentation for completeness and accuracy.

•       Identify and tag suspect or non-conforming materials and notify the QC Supervisor for disposition.

•       Support the logging of incoming inspection results into inspection records and the quality management system (QMS).

In-Process & Final Inspection (with supervision)

•       Assist with in-process visual inspections of The Company Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Soft Starters, motor control assemblies, at designated production checkpoints under senior QC guidance.

•       Learn to use basic inspection and measurement tools including calipers, multimeters, and continuity testers to verify assembly conformance.

•       Verify component placement, fastener installation, labeling, and wiring completeness against The Company work instructions and production travelers.

•       Assist with all tasks related to preparation of shipment of product – cleaning, labeling, checking of all fasteners to recommendations, final visual inspection of all surfaces for blemishes and any other non-conforming issues both prior to functional test and prior to shipment.

•       Identify and report visible defects, assembly errors, or workmanship concerns to senior QC staff for disposition.

•       Support the preparation and completion of production traveler documentation and inspection checklists.

Documentation & Quality Support

•       Accurately record inspection observations, results, and measurements in inspection logs and the QMS under supervision.

•       Assist in completing non-conformance reports (NCRs) when directed by senior QC staff.

•       Maintain an organized and accurate inspection records filing system in support of The Company’ quality documentation standards.

•       Support calibration activities by assisting with tool identification, tagging, and submission per The Company’ calibration schedule.

•       Assist with data entry and quality metrics reporting tasks as directed by the QC Manager.

Learning & Development

•       Actively participate in on-the-job training covering The Company’ solid-state motor control products, quality standards, inspection procedures, and safety requirements.

•       Develop working knowledge of The Company’ product portfolio including solid-state AC motor starters, reduced voltage soft starters, and motor protection and control products.

•       Learn to read and interpret basic engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions with guidance from senior QC staff.

•       Build familiarity with quality concepts including visual inspection standards, electronic workmanship criteria, and non-conformance documentation.

•       Learn and follow all applicable electrical safety rules, ESD precautions, and PPE requirements in The Company’ production and test areas.

•       Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with 5S and OSHA standards.

•       Demonstrate growing independence, accuracy, and productivity as experience and training progress.

Qualifications

Required

•       High school diploma or GED with 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing, inspection, assembly, or quality-related role; recent technical school or community college graduates encouraged to apply.

•       Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude; ability and eagerness to learn to use hand tools and measurement instruments.

•       Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to accuracy and quality.

•       Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions, checklists, and production travelers.

•       Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation.

•       Reliable, punctual, dependable transportation. Individual with a positive, eager-to-learn attitude, wanting to be part of the team.

•       Ability to lift to 35 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work comfortably in an active electronics production environment.

Preferred (not required)

•       Associate’s degree, technical certificate, or coursework in Electronics Technology, Electromechanical Technology, Quality Technology, or a related field.

•       Prior exposure to quality inspection, electronic manufacturing, or production in an industrial setting.

•       Basic familiarity with multimeters, calipers, or other measurements and test tools.

•       Interested in or foundational knowledge of solid-state electronics, motor controls, or power electronics.
