The Vanderbilt Health Executive Search Team is conducting a national search for an HR Director, Learning Solutions. The HR Director, Learning Solutions, will provide overall leadership for a functional area of HR Learning & Development by developing and executing on goals and objectives, policies, and procedures; supervising, coordinating, and evaluating the activities; preparing operating and capital expenditure budgets; and performing personnel administration functions. The HR Director, Learning Solutions, leads the strategy, design, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise learning experiences and learning technology ecosystems. This role is responsible for leading teams that create innovative, scalable, and impactful learning solutions that drive business performance, employee growth, leadership development, and organizational transformation. The Director oversees instructional design, learning experience design, digital learning development, and learning platform management to ensure exceptional learner experiences and measurable outcomes.

Role Accountabilities:
Learning Solutions Strategy & Design
  • Develop and execute the enterprise learning solutions strategy aligned with business priorities and talent objectives.
  • Lead the design and delivery of innovative, learner-centered development programs across leadership, professional, technical, and compliance learning.
  • Establish standards, methodologies, and governance for instructional design, learning experience design, and content development.
  • Ensure learning solutions leverage modern learning principles, including personalization, social learning, performance support, and AI-enabled learning experiences.
  • Drive continuous improvement through learner feedback, analytics, and business impact measurements.

Learning Platforms & Technology
  • Own the strategy, roadmap, governance, and optimization of learning platforms, including LMS, LXP, content libraries, skills platforms, and emerging learning technologies.
  • Partner with HR, IT, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless integration across talent, performance, skills, and learning systems.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies that enhance learner engagement, accessibility, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure platform compliance with security, privacy, accessibility, and regulatory requirements.
  • Leverage data and analytics to improve adoption, utilization, and effectiveness of learning technologies.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in learning, talent development, instructional design, or learning technology strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience. Teams larger than 10 employees strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing enterprise learning platforms and digital learning ecosystems strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design methodologies, and learning technologies strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading large-scale learning transformation initiatives.
  • Healthcare and/ or Hospital System experience strongly preferred.
  • Consulting experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Workday HCM (and/or Workday Learning) is strongly preferred.
  • Certifications in instructional design, change management, project management, or learning technologies.
  • Experience with AI-enabled learning solutions and skills-based talent development strategies is strongly preferred.
