Description:

Citizenship and Science Academy of Rochester Elementary School has an opening for an extraordinary professional to lead and support our faculty and students in the role as Elementary School Leader (Dean).


Primary Role and Purpose:

Oversee instructional program and manage operations and personnel at charter level. Demonstrate leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service. Ensure compliance with charter policies, success of instructional programs, and operations of all charter activities. The School Dean is responsible for all academic/instructional aspects of running a school. The dean is responsible for overseeing all student data, including student sub-groups, instruction, curriculum, assessment, professional development, teacher evaluations, student socio-emotional learning/development, and discipline.

Required knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills; extremely careful attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Exceptional ability to bridge and enhance cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to create, monitor, and maintain systems that enhance organizational efficiency.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; flexible, able to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed.

Experience required/highly preferred:

  • 5 years teaching and working in classrooms and coaching teachers, preferably in urban schools and/or communities
  • Experience as a Dean or equivalent leadership role highly preferred
  • Experience at a high-performing charter school highly preferred but not required

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree Preferred

Must have fingerprint clearance through New York State Education Department.
