About Us

For over 50 years, Cross Creek Nursery has served the Richmond, VA area with high-quality plants and professional landscaping services. As a family-owned business, we're committed to growing not just great landscapes, but a strong team and community.

Our horticulturists, landscapers, and designers work together to maintain and enhance outdoor spaces using plants grown locally across the Central Virginia Region. By focusing on quality and plants suited to Central Virginia's climate, we create landscapes built to thrive.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced, motivated General Manager to lead our award-winning Landscape Maintenance division-someone who's not just looking for a job, but a long-term home where they can make a real impact.

As a family-owned business with deep roots in the community, this isn't a "build it and sell it" environment. We're focused on long-term success, strong relationships, and doing things the right way. In this role, you'll help guide a well-established, high-performing operation while continuing to build on a legacy of quality, service, and trust.

You'll be leading a team that supports over 800 active customers and 100+ employees (including seasonal team members), working across multiple departments. You won't be starting from scratch-this is a stable, successful operation with a strong foundation and a team that takes pride in their work.

As part of a larger organization of 230+ employees across Central Virginia, you'll be stepping into a leadership role within one of the region's most diverse and respected horticulture companies.

  • Lead and grow a well-established, award-winning landscape maintenance operation
  • Oversee key business functions including contract renewals, sales, profitability, labor planning, and daily operations
  • Provide hands-on leadership to teams across production, account management, administration, and sales
  • Own financial performance, including budgeting, labor management, and full P&L responsibility
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and support long-term stability
  • Plan and allocate resources effectively to support continued growth and operational success
  • Build, coach, and develop high-performing teams while fostering accountability and a positive culture
  • Address challenges head-on, including team development, performance management, and conflict resolution
  • Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all safety standards
  • Partner closely with ownership on strategy, decision-making, and overall business direction
  • Communicate effectively with both team members and customers-conversastional spanish and english skills are essential

About You

  • Proven experience leading multi-team operations in landscaping, horticulture, or similar service-based industries
  • Strong financial acumen, with hands-on experience managing budgets and full P&L responsibility
  • A track record of building, leading, and developing high-performing teams
  • Experience overseeing production, administrative, and sales functions within a growing operation
  • Clear, confident communicator who can build strong relationships with both teams and customers
  • Comfortable managing large teams and navigating complex, fast-paced environments
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (conversational required)
  • Looking for a long-term leadership role within a stable, values-driven organization

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary with performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company contributions
  • Paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, and company-paid holidays
  • A long-term career opportunity within a stable, established organization
  • Direct collaboration with ownership and involvement in high-level strategy
  • A leadership role where you can make a meaningful, lasting impact
  • A strong, team-oriented culture within a 50+ year family-owned business
  • The support of a larger organization with 230+ team members across Central Virginia
  • Quarterly company-wide appreciation events
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities
