Job Title: Lab Technician

Job Description

The Lab Technician supports day-to-day laboratory operations by managing raw materials, maintaining accurate labeling and documentation, and ensuring a clean, safe, and well-organized work environment. This role involves hands-on work with laboratory equipment, inventory systems, and safety data documentation within a chemical or cosmetic manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Label raw materials accurately and consistently in accordance with established procedures.
  • Use laboratory equipment such as pH meters, viscometers, homogenizers, water baths, and batching equipment to support testing and production activities.
  • Dispose of raw materials safely and in compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Print labels and apply them to containers to ensure clear identification and traceability of materials.
  • Organize and maintain lab inventory, including raw materials, packaging, and general supplies.
  • Manage and update the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) system to ensure safety documentation is current and accessible.
  • Monitor inventory levels and support inventory management activities to prevent stockouts and overstock situations.
  • Perform routine lab maintenance, including cleaning dishware, organizing supplies, and maintaining packaging and raw material storage areas.
  • Order laboratory supplies and manage incoming materials to support continuous lab operations.
  • Support equipment maintenance and calibration activities to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Follow lab safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment by adhering to regulatory and internal safety standards.
  • Support regulatory documentation activities related to chemical and cosmetic manufacturing, including FDA-related requirements where applicable.

Essential Skills

  • 1-3 years of experience with labeling processes in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with laboratory equipment such as pH meters, viscometers, homogenizers, batching equipment, and water baths.
  • 1-3 years of experience in SDS (Safety Data Sheet) management and safety data documentation.
  • 1-3 years of experience in the chemical manufacturing industry, with cosmetic manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong skills in inventory management and organization of raw materials and laboratory supplies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain safety data and regulatory documents.
  • Knowledge of lab safety practices and ability to follow established safety protocols.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field such as Chemistry, Cosmetics, or Chemical Engineering (preferred).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in cosmetic manufacturing or working with cosmetic products.
  • Familiarity with regulatory documents and requirements related to chemical and cosmetic products, including FDA-related processes.
  • Ability to maintain accurate labeling and documentation across multiple materials and containers.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and traceability.
  • Ability to build productive working relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks such as inventory, labeling, and equipment support simultaneously.

Work Environment

This role operates in a laboratory environment within a chemical or cosmetic manufacturing setting. The Lab Technician works hands-on with equipment such as pH meters, viscometers, homogenizers, batching systems, and water baths, as well as with raw materials, packaging, and lab supplies. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
