Position Summary
The University of Illinois Chicago Center for Dissemination andImplementation Science (CDIS) is seeking a full-time Community Outreach andRecruitment Coordinator to assist with a community-based research project toimplement a family-based HIV prevention program for Black girls and their malecaregivers (IMAGE). Duties primarily focus on partnering withcommunity-based organizations and recruiting and retaining Black girls and malecaregivers in the IMAGE program. The Hourly Research Associate I will work collaboratively with other project staff to recruit, enroll, and retain potential research program participants. The position will also lead a recruitment team consisting of independent recruiters in the community supporting IMAGE. The Hourly Research Associate I will attend weekly project meetings and community events.
Duties & Responsibilities
Perform surveys, interviews, observations or uses other methods according to established research protocols.
Prepare data for analysis and execute details of studies. Perform analysis and document results.
May conduct literature searches.
Order study supplies and maintain inventories.
Maintain detailed records of results and prepare written reports.
Maintain and process required paperwork.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES
Attend community events on weekdays and weekends to identify eligible families for workshops implementing an evidence-based HIV prevention curriculum.
Establish relationships with community-based organizations serving the target population to nurture partnerships.
Inform families, including mothers, daughters (ages 13-24), and male caregivers (fathers, grandfathers, older brothers, cousins, and uncles) about the IMAGE project through one-on-one interactions and collective speaking opportunities.
Work collaboratively with other project staff to recruit, enroll, and retain potential research program participants, including attending weekly project meetings.
Lead a recruitment team consisting of independent recruiters in the community supporting IMAGE.
Complete required training and compliance modules (i.e., CITI IRB, HIPAA).
Act professionally in all capacities (i.e., dress, behavior, and attitude), especially in representing IMAGE in community settings and building relationships.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social science or related field required.
- Knowledge of fundamental research concepts, practices and procedures.
- Experience teaching and/or working with adolescents and or young adults in a youth agency setting, other community health center, or social service.
- Knowledge of reproductive health, STIs, and HIV/AIDS prevention.
- Candidate must be able to work independently and collaborate with others, autonomously managing a recruitment team of hourly contractors for IMAGE.
- Experience working with marginalized communities and communicating health topics with empathy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in clinical psychology/mental health, social work, medicine, nursing, or public health preferred.
