Privacy Officer
Full-time / 40 hours per week
Location: Summa Health Corporate Office - 1077 Gorge Blvd, Akron, OH 44310

Summary:
Administers the system Privacy Program and Summa's commitment to comply with state and federal regulations. This positions functions as an independent body that reviews and evaluates privacy issues/concerns within the organization. Responsible for developing, maintaining and overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures as well as education, investigation, monitoring and auditing responsibilities. Ensures the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Summa Health System assets. Participates in ongoing enforcement and monitoring activities related to privacy in compliance with organizational policy, regulatory requirements, federal and state laws, accreditation and industry standards.
1. Formal Education Required:
a. Bachelor's degree or higher (Advanced degree or JD preferred)
2. Experience and Training Required:
a. Five (5) or more years of demonstrable, professional experience in a large integrated healthcare delivery system implementing HIPAA Privacy regulations and application state and federal regulations or other highly regulated industry
b. One or more Certifications required/preferred:
i. Certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC)
ii. Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) * preferred
iii. Certification in Privacy Security (CHPS) * preferred
iv. - Requires 1500 hours working in healthcare compliance prior to examination
3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Knowledge and experience in state and Federal Privacy laws
b. Knowledge and experience in conducting investigations and privacy audits
c. Knowledge of Office of Civil Rights and Office of National Coordination Cures Act
d. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with patients/customers with the understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. Please keep in mind that the range that is listed is the full base salary range. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical.
