MELTSHOP MELTER - Routine Facilitator I:

Job Summary

Purpose of the Role The Routine Facilitator I is responsible for ensuring operational processes are standardized, documented, trained, audited, and continuously improved within the Melt Shop. The position supports safety, quality, cost control, environmental compliance, training, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives using the Gerdau Business System (GABS).

 

Key Responsibilities

Process Standardization

  • Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures.
  • Create and update:
    • Process Control Standards
    • Management Standards
    • Routine Procedures
    • Job Aids
    • One-Point Lessons
    • Process Guarantee Tables
  • Ensure standards remain current and effective.

 

Training & Workforce Development

  • Maintain departmental training matrices.
  • Schedule and coordinate required training.
  • Ensure employees understand and comply with established standards.
  • Coach operators and supervisors on continuous improvement methodologies.

Auditing & Compliance

  • Conduct routine audits against established standards.
  • Perform additional audits on underperforming processes.
  • Document audit findings and corrective actions.
  • Monitor corrective action implementation and effectiveness.

 

Performance Monitoring & Analysis

  • Track key operational control items and performance metrics.
  • Analyze trends and identify recurring issues.
  • Communicate performance results to management.
  • Deliver presentations and reports to leadership teams.

 

Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving

  • Support failure analysis activities.
  • Facilitate Quality Improvement Story (QIS) methodology.
  • Assist with 5S, cost reduction, environmental, and productivity initiatives.
  • Monitor execution of improvement action plans.

 

Safety & Environmental Leadership

  • Administer and support safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company environmental requirements.
  • Report environmental or safety concerns promptly.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Associate degree (2-year college degree) in:
    • Engineering
    • Business Administration
    • Related field
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience

  • 1-3 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Scrap Processing
    • Melting
    • Casting
    • Rolling
    • Maintenance
    • Finishing
    • Shipping/Warehousing
  • Some supervisory or facilitation experience preferred.

 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Working knowledge of steel manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of Gerdau Business System (GABS).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Trend analysis and data interpretation abilities.
  • Computer proficiency (Excel, reporting, presentations, databases).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct training and present to groups.
