Project Manager, Climate & Geopolitical Risk

Project Manager, Climate & Geopolitical Risk

The Climate and Geopolitical Risk team sits within the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function with the purpose to help Capital One to prepare for and proactively manage these risks. We are seeking a Project Manager to join the team.

This role encompasses the program governance and reporting for ERM's climate and geopolitical risk programs along with working with partner teams to embed processes related to Climate and Geopolitical Risk. The Project Manager ensures Climate and Geopolitical risks are proactively identified, appropriately assessed, and effectively managed in alignment with the company's risk appetite and long-term strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Embedding new business activities into the team's work and developing and managing project plans to ensure the Climate & Geopolitical Risk team delivers on its goals.

  • Program Governance: Manage the overarching governance framework for both programs, including overall roadmaps and program administration (e.g., budgets, trainings)

  • Reporting & Disclosures: Manage ongoing reporting to key stakeholders and the Board, including mandatory disclosures and external reporting.

  • Stakeholder Management: Maintain relationships and ongoing meetings with key stakeholders, including formal working groups.

  • Policy Updates: Update and maintain formal policies, associated processes and controls in Capital One's internal system.

  • Audit & Regulatory Interaction: Manage Audit and regulatory engagement, including exams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 5 years of Project Management or Financial Services consulting experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Audit or Risk management experience in a large financial services organization or management consultancy

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the end-to-end risk management lifecycle, risk frameworks, and governance structures

  • Ability to distill complex information into a consumable narrative for an executive and Board level audience

  • Ability to identify and evaluate risk pathways and devise management strategies

  • Collaborative, team player with the ability to navigate a complex organization and influence outcomes

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Prior experience with Climate and or Geopolitical Risk Management

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $151,900 - $173,400 for Manager, Project Management


Richmond, VA: $138,100 - $157,700 for Manager, Project Management










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
