Summary

As the Freight Broker, you will be critical in truckload operations, building strong relationships with shippers and carriers, negotiating competitive freight rates, and managing full truckload shipments from start to finish. This role is ideal for a driven, results-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is motivated by performance-based earnings.


What you will do:

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with shippers and carrier partners
  • Understand customer needs and deliver customized truckload freight solutions
  • Source, vet, and secure qualified carriers for full truckload shipments
  • Negotiate rates with customers and carriers to achieve target margins
  • Manage shipments end-to-end, ensuring on-time pickup and delivery
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and carriers, resolving issues proactively
  • Strengthen the Truckload Operations function by documenting and communicating best practices and SOPs
  • Monitor market trends, freight rates, and industry conditions to support informed pricing decisions
  • Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and company policies
  • Maintain accurate records, load documentation, and transactional data
  • Collaborate closely with operations, support, and leadership teams to deliver an excellent customer experience


What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from an accredited four-year college or university
  • 2–4 years of related experience in freight brokerage, transportation sales, or a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of freight, transportation, and logistics operations
  • Proven sales or business development experience (transportation industry preferred)
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency with freight tools (e.g., DAT, Truckstop) and Google Suite
  • Ability to communicate professionally, both written and verbal.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; adapt quickly in dynamic situations
  • High level of self-motivation with the ability to work independently
  • Strong multitasking, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to calculate commissions, percentages, and pricing metrics accurately
  • Regular use of hands, speaking, hearing, lifting, moving, extended periods of sitting and working on a computer.
