Job Summary:
The External Communications Manager will provide external communications support for Compass Healthcare and its sector brands. This role works closely with key internal stakeholders across communications, marketing, and support teams to assist operational and sales team efforts to retain and grow the business. This role is also a direct point of contact for media.
Reports to Compass Healthcare's Senior Director of External Communications and PR.
Responsibilities:
This role requires deep understanding of media relations and brand reputation management which includes strong writing and communication skills, and the ability to time manage and prioritize tasks under short timelines.
  • Media Outreach and Relationship Building
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key media targets to promote positive coverage of the company, and proactively pitch stories, interviews, and content ideas, with the end goal of securing earned media coverage.
    • Develop media relations strategies and plans to support corporate goals, enhance brand visibility, and improve media sentiment.
  • Client Communications and Retention Support
    • Support in new business client communication and new team member communications needs.
    • Support operations leaders through the creation of focused client communications resources.
  • Crisis Communication and Issues Management
    • Assist in developing and executing crisis communications and issues management plans to support the company's operational teams and overall reputation management.
  • Awards, Conferences, and Industry Thought Leadership
    • Lead proactive planning around industry award opportunities across support teams.
  • Research and Strategic Planning
    • Stay informed about industry news, competitor coverage, and relevant trends to adjust strategies and messaging as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications or relevant field of study
  • 5-6 years of experience in a corporate communications/PR agency role preferred; Experience building media relations strategy and executing is a must.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. This role will support internal/external writing needs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (PPT, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Preferred experience using Adobe, Canva, and a Project Management Tool (i.e., Smartsheet, Monday.com, etc.)
  • Exceptional ability to remain organized and detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to accurately coordinate multiple complex projects and deadlines
  • Self-motivated and well-disciplined
  • Positive, can-do attitude
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills
