Job description

The Company

Versaterm is a PE-backed, high-growth SaaS company building a fully integrated platform across the entire public safety ecosystem — dispatch, law enforcement, forensics, courts, and beyond. We've grown through strategic acquisitions and deep product investment. What connects all of it is a single purpose: give public safety agencies the tools and insights to make better decisions in high‑stakes moments.

When a dispatcher takes a 911 call, a detective works a case, or a lab processes evidence, there's a good chance our software is running in the background. That's been true for over four decades.

AI is central to where we're going. Not as a feature but as core infrastructure. We're embedding intelligence directly into the workflows our customers rely on every day, and we're doing it alongside them. Our customers tell us what the mission demands. We build what answers it.

This work attracts a specific kind of person — someone who wants to be pushed by great people, build things that outlast a sprint cycle, and go home knowing the work connected back to something real.

The Role

The Director, Brand and Communications will shape and execute Versaterm's global brand, content and external communications strategy, strengthening the company's position as an innovator and trusted partner in public safety technology. This leader will drive a unified market narrative and brand voice that showcases Versaterm's vision, thought leadership and differentiated value in empowering public safety agencies through modern, connected solutions.

The role oversees all aspects of external brand and communications, including media relations, analyst relations, executive visibility, brand storytelling, content strategy, creative direction and strategic product and customer narratives. Working cross-functionally with Executive Leadership, Product, Sales and People teams, the Director will ensure that Versaterm's communications reflect its culture of innovation and integrity. This leader will develop integrated strategies that align brand, communications, and go-to‑market priorities to drive market awareness, credibility and growth. This job posting is being used to fill an existing vacancy.

What You Do Corporate and External Communications
  • Lead the development and execution of Versaterm's communications strategy across media relations, corporate reputation and brand storytelling
  • Drive proactive and reactive media engagement to strengthen Versaterm's position as an industry leader, including thought leadership, issues management and executive visibility
  • Manage PR agency partnerships and external communications partners, ensuring consistency of message and excellence in execution
  • Develop strategic communications for senior leaders, including keynote speeches, op-eds, thought leadership articles and presentations
  • Oversee corporate announcements, product launches and strategic narratives that highlight Versaterm's innovation, customer impact and growth momentum
  • Partner with industry analysts, conference organizers and associations to secure earned visibility for Versaterm and its executives
  • Lead crisis and reputation management planning, ensuring readiness and coordinated response across functions
Brand and Content Strategy
  • Own Versaterm's enterprise content strategy across the corporate website, blogs, social platforms, executive bylines and key corporate campaigns
  • Develop an integrated editorial calendar that aligns business priorities, industry trends, product launches and major events
  • Partner with the GTM team to develop messaging and content strategies supporting launches, campaigns and business initiatives
  • Steward Versaterm's brand positioning, messaging and voice across all external channels
  • Guide the development of compelling creative assets that strengthen the Versaterm brand
Leadership
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement while developing talent and scalable processes
  • Establish performance metrics that measure the impact of brand, content, media and communications initiatives
  • Drive innovation across the function by integrating AI and emerging technologies into the strategy and programs
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field
  • 10-15+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations or related fields, ideally in public safety or technology, with 5 years of leadership experience
  • Experience developing and evolving brand positioning, messaging and corporate narratives in a high-growth B2B technology environment
  • Strong media relations expertise, with established relationships across technology, business and industry trade media
  • Experience managing and collaborating with creative and communications agencies
  • Exceptional storytelling, writing and executive communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex technology and business strategies into compelling, human-centered narratives
  • Experience developing SEO-informed content strategies that improve discoverability, audience engagement and the performance of digital programs
  • Experience leveraging AI and emerging technologies to improve development, workflows and team effectivenessStrategic mindset with hands-on execution ability; comfortable operating both at a high strategic level and in day-to-day delivery

Due to the nature of our work with public safety agencies, this position requires compliance with the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy. Candidates must successfully pass a comprehensive, fingerprint-based background check. Please note that specific customer contracts may impose additional security verification requirements. Obtaining and maintaining all required security clearances is a condition of employment. For more information on CJIS security requirements, please visit FBI's CJIS Security Policy Resource Center.
