Job description

Looking for an accounting leadership role where the work has a purpose behind it? We're partnering with a well-established, mission-driven organization seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to join its finance team. This role offers a mix of team leadership and day-to-day accounting, with ownership of complex funding and reporting activities and the opportunity to work closely with senior finance leadership. The organization offers opportunities to grow within finance or explore other areas of the organization over time.


Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and support a small accounting team
  • Oversee accounting and financial reporting for multiple programs and funding sources
  • Manage grant accounting, including reporting, reconciliations, budget monitoring, and compliance
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reports
  • Monitor actual results against budgets and investigate variances
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure accurate financial information and appropriate use of funds
  • Support annual audits, internal controls, and other finance initiatives


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Previous leadership or people management experience required
  • Grant accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Experience working in a nonprofit or similarly complex, multi-funded environment is a plus
