Job Description
Responsible for project accounting and firmwide financial reporting using generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position will be responsible for daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks and activities including payroll law, accounts payable, accounts receivable and related procedures. Works with CFO to develop and maintain accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The Accounting Manager has the opportunity to take on a leadership role in the firm.
Responsibilities (others may be assigned):
COMMUNICATION
  • Communicate with internal and external team members on task assignments

COLLABORATION
  • Prepare reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income and expenses based on past, present, and expected operations
  • Prepare other long-term and short-term financial statements as needed
  • Analyze and report on projects financials monthly
  • Prepares budgets and reviews necessary supporting documentation and justification and reports them to CFO
  • Analyze business costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice to CFO
  • Assist in month and year end closings, and applicable reporting
  • Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Track firmwide cash flow and report to CFO
  • Assist in maintaining firm state professional and business licenses and determine new state requirements
  • Establishes/maintains relations with banks, financial institutions, outside auditors, insurance brokers and clients
  • Coordinate the preparation of reports and schedules for all tax filings for firm and partnership
  • Manage financial records for special firm entities
  • Assess accounting and payroll systems to ensure functionality meets the firm's needs. Support product upgrades and system transitions.
  • Work with Project Managers to ensure client and consultant contracts are correctly setup and updated in the accounting system
  • Assists Partners and Project managers in updating project plans as contracts and amendments are sent and/or received
  • Monitor client invoices for accuracy and contract compliance
  • Provide review and backup support for all accounting and payroll functions
  • Work with CFO on business insurance renewals for Professional Liability and General Insurances
  • Manage Certificate of Insurance issuance for clients

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CMA or CPA designation or candidate preferred
  • Five plus years of experience in field, or closely related field
  • Knowledge of GAAP and how to apply them to routine and complex business environments
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to effectively analyze and present information and respond to questions from leadership, clients and peers
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference while applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to analyze and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Experience with Deltek preferred or ability to learn new software systems
  • Ability to address multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, work independently and demonstrate self-discipline.
