Job description

The Centralized Accounting Manager is a member of The Grand America Hotels and Resorts accounting team and is responsible for supporting our hotels with financial-related functions, which include monthly reporting and reconciliations, preparing financial statements, and preparation of monthly occupancy and sales taxes, as well as annual tip reporting (8027). The role emphasizes accurate and timely financial reporting, process improvement, and collaborative team building with assigned properties.
The ideal candidate will need strong interpersonal and communications skills. The position interfaces with all levels of the organization, from senior leadership to on-site general managers. In addition, this position will assist the Cluster Director of Finance with the annual budget process, monthly forecasting, and preparation of audit work papers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform all normal month end close duties for assigned properties including journal entries and bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile balance sheet monthly including proper supporting documentation, and research as needed.
• Review monthly general ledger accounts for accuracy.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and USALI industry standards.
• Review and approve Daily Flash reporting.
• Calculate and process various tax payments (including sales tax, occupancy tax, tourism tax) on a monthly, or quarterly basis, as required.
• Assist with annual budget preparation, and monthly forecasting for assigned properties.
• Review City Ledger and collection weekly.
• Review Guest Ledger and Deposit Ledger weekly.
• Assist with annual audits by completing required audit schedules and supplying supporting documentation.
• Support special projects and initiatives as directed by management.
Qualifications:
• Associate degree in Accounting/Finance or experience in closing hotels
• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, with hospitality industry experience required.
• Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, USALI, and financial reporting requirements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and excellence.
• Strong work ethic.
• Proactive, adaptable, and solutions focused.
• Ability to maintain a professional manner and appearance in all situations.
• Must be able to travel 10% of the time.
