Position Overview

Equagen is a skilled engineering firm that offers innovative solutions in various sectors such as Power & Utilities, Infrastructure, and Industrial sectors, including transmission and substation projects. We are currently seeking a talented Electrical Power Studies Engineer to join our team.

Location

Hybrid (Raleigh, NC)

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct electrical studies including short circuit analysis, protection coordination, arc flash analysis, and transient studies.
  • Utilize software programs such as ETAP, SKM, PSSE, and others to perform and support electrical studies.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
  • Perform electrical studies for substations, BESS projects, and interconnection, adhering to US transmission industry standards, formats, and guidelines.
  • Lead and guide Electrical and Associate Electrical Engineers in their projects and tasks.
  • Develop and validate simulation models and ensure high‑quality analytics and reporting.
  • Independently prepare, present, and support others in preparing technical reports for internal and external customers, maintaining high standards of quality and schedule adherence.
  • Lead proposals in response to customer specifications, RFP/RFQ, and technical information requests.
  • Manage large‑scale technical proposals for studies across various markets in collaboration with other firms.
  • Provide application engineering support for other divisions and departments.
Qualifications
  • Proficiency in software programs such as ETAP, SKM, PSSE, and others relevant to electrical studies.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering standards, including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
  • Familiarity with application of NERC PRC standards for compliance.
  • Expertise in conducting electrical studies and familiarity with various types of electrical studies.
  • Ability to perform electrical studies according to the standards, formats, or guidelines required by the US transmission industry.
  • Experience in performing electrical studies for substations, BESS projects, and interconnection.
  • Ability to lead or guide Electrical and Associate Electrical Engineers.
  • Experience in procurement and developing technical proposals.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare and present technical reports.
  • PE license required.
