We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Detail Associate to join our production support team. The Detailer is responsible for cleaning, polishing, restoring, and maintaining the appearance of boats to ensure they meet Cigarette Racing's quality and presentation standards prior to customer delivery. This role involves detailed cleaning and cosmetic finishing of both interior and exterior boat surfaces, while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and craftsmanship.
The Detailer supports production and service operations by ensuring vessels are showroom-ready, properly protected, and free from cosmetic defects. This role also ensures compliance with OSHA safety standards, company procedures, and environmental handling requirements related to cleaning chemicals and detailing materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Boat Detailing & Appearance Restoration
• Clean and detail both interior and exterior boat surfaces, including hulls, decks, cabins, seating, compartments, and storage areas.
• Wash, wax, compound, buff, and polish exterior surfaces to restore shine and protect finishes.
• Clean and vacuum upholstery, carpets, flooring, seating, and interior surfaces to remove stains, debris, and contaminants.
• Clean, polish, and restore stainless steel, aluminum, chrome, fiberglass, glass, and wood surfaces.
• Apply protective coatings to upholstery, vinyl, leather, painted surfaces, and gel coat finishes to preserve appearance and durability.
• Clean and polish boat windows, windshields, and enclosures to ensure clarity and presentation quality.
• Detail engine compartments, bilges, mechanical spaces, and hard-to-reach areas to remove grease, grime, and debris.
• Perform minor cosmetic touch-ups such as buffing light scratches, stain removal, and finish corrections.
Quality Control & Production Support
• Conduct final inspections to ensure boats meet company cleanliness and presentation standards before customer delivery or release.
• Identify cosmetic concerns, defects, or detailing issues and report findings to supervision.
• Support production and service teams with boat preparation for deliveries, launches, events, storage, or customer demonstrations.
• Ensure work is completed efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting deadlines.
OSHA Safety & Compliance
• Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies related to chemical handling, equipment operation, and workplace safety.
• Safely handle cleaning chemicals, compounds, solvents, waxes, and detailing products in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves, eye protection, respirators, hearing protection, or other required gear.
• Maintain awareness of slip, trip, and fall hazards during detailing activities.
• Report safety concerns, spills, equipment malfunctions, or hazardous conditions immediately.
Waste Management & Material Handling
• Ensure proper handling and disposal of used towels, compounds, chemicals, contaminated materials, and detailing waste.
• Assist in maintaining organized storage areas for detailing supplies and chemicals.
• Minimize material waste through efficient use of cleaning products and supplies.
• Follow company procedures for environmental handling and disposal of detailing-related materials.
Equipment & Work Area Maintenance
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of detailing work areas, equipment, and supply storage.
• Properly clean, maintain, and store buffers, polishers, vacuums, pressure washers, ladders, and detailing tools.
• Report equipment issues or replacement needs to supervision promptly.

Requirements
• Proven experience as a detailer, preferably in the marine or automotive industry.
• Knowledge of marine cleaning products, waxes, and detailing tools.

• Good physical stamina and the ability to work on boats for extended periods.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Work is typically performed outdoors, at marinas, or in boatyards.
• Exposure to various weather conditions while working on boats outdoors.
• Handling cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment, with necessary safety precautions.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment, materials, and boat parts up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, and bend for extended periods while detailing boats.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform detailed cleaning tasks.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, or at heights when detailing larger boats or hard-to-reach areas.
This role is based in a boat manufacturing or repair facility. The work environment may involve exposure to chemicals and fumes, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
