Job Description
Job Title: Respiratory Therapist - NICU
Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Specialty: RRT
Duration: 13 weeks or 18 weeks
Shift: Night 4x12-Hour
Hours per Shift: 12
Experience: 2 years of experience as an RRT in Adult Critical Care and NICU.
License: MD State licensure required.
Certifications: BLS, CRT required; ACLS preferred.
Must-Have:
- 2 years of experience as an RRT in Adult Critical Care and NICU.
- 1 prior travel assignment completed.
- Comfortable drawing and analyzing ABGs.
- Float between Adult and NICU populations.
- Special Equipment: Be familiar with Draeger and Servo ventilators.
Description:
The role involves performing airway management procedures and suctioning of various airways.
Candidates will provide pulmonary hygiene and sputum specimen collection.
The therapist will interpret arterial blood gases and assist in high-risk deliveries.
Skills required include knowledge in medication administration such as Albuterol, Atrovent, and others.
The therapist should also be proficient in using devices such as BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannula.
The candidate must be able to troubleshoot high pressure alarms and wean patients from mechanical ventilation.
Familiarity with operating ventilators such as Draeger V500, Draeger VN500, and Servo U is essential.
This position requires weekend coverage and the ability to float between different patient populations.
The facility is a short-term acute care teaching hospital with a focus on providing quality respiratory care.
Candidates must be able to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.
All employees are required to have the Flu vaccine.
