Overview

Signet Health at Permian Behavioral is actively hiring for an experienced and seasoned Health Information Manager (HIM).  We offer a competitive salary with a comprehensive benefits package and generous PTO. 

The Health Information Manager (HIM Manager) is responsible for the overall management, integrity, security, and regulatory compliance of all patient health information systems and medical records. This role ensures compliance with DNV Healthcare standards, HIPAA regulations, and all applicable Texas state laws governing medical records in a behavioral health setting.

The HIM Manager oversees medical record operations, release of information, data governance, and documentation compliance while supporting quality outcomes, patient safety, and accreditation readiness.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesRegulatory Compliance & Accreditation
  • Ensure full compliance with DNV Healthcare accreditation standards related to documentation, record retention, and information governance
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules
  • Ensure adherence to Texas Health and Human Services and Texas Medical Board requirements
  • Participate in DNV surveys, audits, and corrective action plans
  • Develop and maintain HIM policies and procedures aligned with regulatory standards
Medical Record Management
  • Oversee creation, maintenance, storage, retrieval, and destruction of medical records
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of clinical documentation
  • Monitor delinquent records and enforce physician completion requirements
  • Maintain record retention schedules per Texas law
Health Information Systems & Data Integrity
  • Manage Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and HIM workflows
  • Ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and availability of patient information
  • Collaborate with IT on system optimization, security controls, and downtime procedures
  • Conduct routine audits to ensure documentation compliance
Requirements/QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Administration, or related field required
Experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of HIM experience in a hospital setting
  • Behavioral health experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with accreditation standards (DNV, The Joint Commission, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA and Texas medical records laws
  • Understanding of DNV accreditation standards and survey readiness
  • Proficiency in EHR systems and HIM software
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information
