Job description

The Harry & Rose Samson Family JCC is seeking enthusiastic and outgoing Swim Instructors to join our team in Whitefish Bay. We are looking for instructors for both our standard group classes and our specialized Adaptive Private Lessons for participants with disabilities.

Shift Availability
  • General Hours: Mon-Thu (4pm-6pm), Sat (9am-12pm), Sun (9am-12:30pm).
  • Adaptive Lessons: Flexible hours
Essential Duties:
  • Instruction: Teach age and level-appropriate skills to students of all ages (4-18 for adaptive) and abilities.
  • Adaptive Specialization: Modify lesson objectives for participants with disabilities and communicate progress directly with families.
  • Administration: Track attendance/progress, manage equipment setup/cleanup, and submit bi-weekly reconciliation forms for private lessons.
  • Professionalism: Arrive 10 minutes early, wear a family-friendly swimsuit, and participate in all mandatory staff trainings.
Qualifications:
  • Age: 16+ for general instruction; 18+ for Adaptive Private Lessons.
  • Experience: 1 year of instruction preferred for general roles. Adaptive roles require 2 years of instruction experience and 1 year of experience working with participants living with disabilities.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim programs.
  • Certifications: Current Lifeguard, WSI, or CPR Pro/First Aid certifications are highly preferred.
