Description *The entire range of pay for this position is posted. Typical starting pay will be at the beginning of the range, depending on qualifications.* Primary Purpose Performs a variety of animal handling and maintenance services for the City of Republic's Animal Control Program. Supervision Under the direct supervision of the Animal Control Manager
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assists in the overall care and feeding of impounded animals. Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the equipment and grounds of the facility. Participates in the clerical and other manual tasks associated with operations, including but not limited to the adoption program.
Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education & Experience Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent. Some working knowledge of general animal care preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Must not be hesitant to disclose personal errors or evidence discovered which may affect the productive legal outcome of a situation or produce a liability; Ability to work with animal owners in a respectful manner while knowing applicable City ordinances and policy; Ability to research and obtain a variety of records; Must be able to perform work functions following prescribed safety procedures; Must know how to work a computer with some knowledge of Microsoft Office; Confidence to solve problems and make good decisions. Must be able to perform effectively as a member of a team in carrying out the City's Mission, Vision and Values as well as the Trust Edge Experience, which further establishes the foundation for our Mission, Vision and Values through the 8-Pillars of trust, which are: Clarity, Compassion, Character, Competency, Commitment, Connection, Contribution and Consistency. Special Requirements Must possess a valid Missouri driver's license. Miscellaneous Requirements May be required to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays. Subject to emergency call-in.
Supplemental Information Physical Demands Performs bending, squatting, crawling, twisting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching to subsurface levels and overhead; Must be able to push and pull up to 50 pounds and be able to lift 25-pound items above head; Must be able to hold and grip objects. Work Environment May be exposed to extreme weather, dust, pollen, chemicals, contagious diseases, extreme noise, animals, and insects; May work in awkward positions or in confined spaces.
