Job description

KLKN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Lincoln, Nebraska, is seeking an innovative full-time Content Manager! We’re looking for a forward-thinking newsroom leader who will partner closely with the Executive News Director to help shape the station’s editorial vision, daily operations, and long-term content strategy.

The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with a passion for journalism, team building, and audience engagement. The Content Manager will develop and execute impactful content across all KLKN platforms.


Responsibilities:

-Oversees day-to-day management of the KLKN and KBSI newsrooms.

-Help guide the newsroom’s daily editorial coverage across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms.

-Lead or help lead editorial meetings that encourage strong ideas, thoughtful discussion, and a clear plan for the day.

-Support, coach, and develop news producers, digital producers, anchors, MMJs, and other newsroom team members.

-Help direct breaking news, severe weather, and major event coverage across all platforms.

-Partner with the Executive News Director to make sure important news reaches audiences quickly and effectively wherever they are.

-Review scripts, rundowns, and digital content with a focus on accuracy, fairness, clarity, tone, and viewer impact.

-Lead the station’s efforts to create, manage and grow a stronger user-generated content community via the NOW Local News App.

-Communicate clearly and calmly during busy, high‑pressure moments.

-Collaborate with news leadership and other departments on newscast style, coverage plans, audience growth, and station priorities.

-Fill in as Producer, EP, as needed.

-Manages the team’s schedule.

-Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

-Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines throughout the day.

-Organized and detailed-oriented.

-Strong collaboration and communication skills.


Experience Level:

-A bachelor's degree in broadcast television or journalism.

-3-5 years of experience in television newscast writing and producing.

-Prior management experience.
