Job description

The Logistics Manager provides leadership and directs supply chain employee activities. Plans and coordinates the ordering and distribution of product, parts, and accessories. Plans, directs, controls, coordinates, and evaluates logistics management functions. Oversees the logistics requirements necessary to support operations of assigned program. * Ensures compliance with procedures, integrity of property accountability to the degree to which customer requirements are satisfied, and compatibility of local supply information and inventory records. * Supervises personnel in the inventory control and logistics sections. Schedules and conducts inventories. * Oversees the transfers, adjustments, turn-ins, issues, receipts and controls of all property assigned to program. * Enters data into multiple databases, conducts extensive searches for information pertaining to complex and/or unusual supply transactions and patterns, assists hand receipt holders in preparing lost/damaged statements for lost, destroyed or damaged property and discusses problems with hand receipt holders for clarification and settlements of discrepancies. * Updates databases, retrieves data and uses data to respond to a variety of customers. * Drafts local policies, procedures, plans and guidance for supply and services operations. * Implements and adjusts procedures for receipt, storage, issue and document control of accountable supplies and equipment. * Directs personnel in making decisions and recognizing problems relating to such determinations and needs for property review, detection of discrepancy caused, and adjustments, etc. * Provides technical guidance and training to inventory control specialists. Monitors and reviews work performed. * Investigates and reconciles discrepancies and reports those that could not be resolved to the logistics manager. * Executes and establishes functions, including development or modification of local procedures in accordance with guidelines established by the logistics manager. * Responsible for training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems of direct reports. * Ensure the successful operation of the logistics department to include Supply Support Operations, Requisition Processing, Inventory, Hazardous Material Management, Research and Cataloging, Purchasing and Acquisition, Receiving, Warehousing, , Equipment Management and Administrative Support Services. * Manage staff and resources for the logistics function. * Enforce operating standards and policies for the department. * Collaborates with program management to establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure effective logistics program operations to support the initiatives and directives of the customer. * Evaluate and recommend new initiatives and methodology in the logistics area based on requirements and priorities. * Participate with the customer to assist in supporting the strategic direction of the logistics department. * Act as the liaison with the customer for planning, implementing, and coordinating logistics initiatives to include distribution and turn in of excess property. * Ensure proper logistics support is maintained and problems are identified and resolved. * Provide ASTS/GCSS-Army oversight. * Audit current processes, and procedures, make on-the-spot corrections, and recommend improvements. * Performs other qualified duties as required. Minimum Requirements: * Highly proficient in Microsoft applications, general computer skills. * Effective written and verbal communication in English. * Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgment. * Ability to multi-task and work under time constraints. * Ability to interface with all levels of management and ability to work independently. * Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment. * Required to have five years (5) of Aviation maintenance supply experience. * Required to have at least one year (1) experience planning and leading logistics management. * Required to have experience with establishing US -Army logistics management program. * Experience with GCSS-Army. * Highschool Diploma or GED Equivalent. * Must be able to travel to assigned program locations as required. Clearance Requirements: * Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility. Physical Requirements/Working Environment * May work in aircraft maintenance hangar or warehouse. * May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50lbs. * May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail and are exposed to fumes or airborne particles and electrical shock hazards. * May be required to work in protective equipment that increases heat stress and limits mobility. * Work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in weather (temperature, wind, rain, etc.). * Must be able to travel to and between remote locations in austere and/or hostile environments.
