Job description

Job Description
Vertex is seeking an experienced leader to join the US Commercial Operations team. This role will partner closely with business and field leadership to enhance field effectiveness by ensuring appropriate resourcing, clear communication, and strong support across field-facing initiatives. Serving as a critical link between strategy and execution, the Associate Director will collaborate across Commercial Operations teams and other cross-functional and technical stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery, drive business performance, and improve the overall field experience. This individual will directly support one of the US business units as a trusted partner and field excellence lead, and will report to the Director, Customer Strategy & Execution.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with key business leaders to understand and translate business strategy into prioritized commercial operations initiatives and solutions
  • Partner with the Commercial Operations teams to define and lead a portfolio of field enablement projects, ensuring clear and aligned prioritization, communication, quality, and timeliness of training and delivery
  • Establish simplified standards for tracking and effective and clear communications between teams, inclusive of a prioritized roadmap of US Commercial Operations efforts
  • Facilitate quarterly business planning sessions and document outcomes to ensure alignment across BU leaders on key priorities for cross-functional enablement teams
  • Actively participate in recurring Sales leadership team meetings to provide strategic recommendations and proactively address risks or dependencies related to field engagement
  • Drive continuous improvement to evaluate effectiveness, identify gaps, opportunities in evolving technologies, tools, and business process improvements to drive efficiencies and exceed business goals

Required Qualifications:
  • 8-10 years of experience in sales, sales support, or commercial operations roles, with familiarity across CRM systems, and technologies that support field-facing activities
  • Extensive experience in program/project management, demand management, resource management, and prioritization
  • Proven expertise in commercial launch readiness, including planning across Customer Data Management, Field Operations and Training, Reporting & Analytics
  • Ability to translate broad business strategies and functional priorities into effective operational goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated success in on-time delivery of large, cross-functional, and complex projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clearly and concisely to diverse audiences
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, including the development of business cases and value propositions

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Advanced degree preferred

Pay Range:
$164,000 - $246,000
Disclosure Statement:
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
