Job description

Job Title: Project Manager – Capital Projects (Life Sciences, Greenfield Construction)

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
Employment Type: Full time
Industry: Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a major Greenfield construction project for a client in the Life Sciences sector. This pivotal role spans the entire project lifecycle—from initial concept through to construction, CQV (Commissioning, Qualification, and Validation), and operational launch. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical acumen, and a proven track record in executing complex capital projects in regulated pharmaceutical environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage cross-disciplinary teams to deliver large-scale, Greenfield capital initiatives.

  • Serve as the primary point of coordination among clients, engineering firms, construction partners, OEMs, and other key stakeholders.

  • Oversee all project stages including design development, construction, equipment integration, and CQV.

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget, while proactively identifying and mitigating risks.

  • Manage external partners and vendors, including RFP processes, contract negotiations, and ongoing performance monitoring.

  • Ensure strict compliance with GMP standards, safety regulations, and engineering best practices.

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including technical reports, specifications, schedules, and progress reports.

  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement throughout project execution.

  • Support issue resolution and troubleshooting during construction and operational readiness phases.

  • Collaborate closely with Quality, EHS&S, and Engineering teams to ensure seamless integration with site operations.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, or a related Life Sciences field.

  • 8+ years of experience managing capital projects, with significant focus on Greenfield site development in GxP-regulated environments.

  • Proficiency in project controls, scheduling tools, and project management methodologies.

  • Strong background in facility and utility systems design, including clean and process utilities.

  • Proven leadership and communication skills with a history of successful cross-functional collaboration.

  • PMP or PE certification is strongly preferred.

This is a high-impact role with visibility across senior leadership and project stakeholders. If you're ready to take the lead on a transformative capital project within the Life Sciences space, we’d love to hear from you.
