Job description

You are applying for a position through Medix, a staffing agency. The actual posting represents a position at one of our clients.
Job Summary
Our client is seeking 25 skilled Benefits Counselors to join their upcoming class. In this role, counselors will guide employees through various benefits programs and available services. While counselors play a key role during open enrollment, their responsibilities are expanding to support benefit communication projects throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
  • Answering benefits questions for all core products available to employees: medical, dental, vision, life and disability, and all voluntary and miscellaneous products.
  • ID card assistance
  • Finding in-network providers
  • Benefit administration login and password resets
  • Enrollment assistance
  • Training in client benefit programs and services, call center technology and processes, and client benefit administration platforms.

Qualifications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish Counselors must have California Life AND Accident & Health Insurance License.
  • Need to obtain prior to starting: Life, Accident & Health Insurance Licenses for Arizona, Iowa, and Indiana.
  • Must have Errors & Omissions (E&O) Insurance prior to starting.

Experience
  • Experience with open enrollment.
  • High volume call experience.

Skills
  • Experience using modern call routing and CRM software to log data during live calls.
  • Strong computer skills (must pass Computer Literacy assessment).
  • Familiarity with navigating backend enrollment systems to reset passwords and fix user flow errors.

Additional Requirements
  • Must have their own equipment including a laptop (not Chromebook), plug-in headset, and monitor. A monitor and headset may be provided if needed.
  • $300 security deposit if a monitor and/or headset is needed.

Schedule/Shift
  • Talent should expect to work 35-hour work weeks (up to 40 hours depending on work volume).
  • Monday-Friday, 7.5-hour shifts between 9am-8pm EST. Flexible scheduling available.
  • No overtime allowed.

Benefits
  • Paid Sick Leave (Medix provides paid sick leave according to state and local sick leave ordinances).
  • Health Benefits / Dental / Vision (Medix offers 6 different health plans: 3 Major Medical Plans, 2 Fixed Indemnity Plans (Standard and Preferred), and 1 Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) Plan. Eligibility for health benefits is based on verifying that an average of 30 hours per week during the first 4 weeks of the work assignment has been met. If you meet eligibility requirements and take action to enroll, you will be covered no earlier than 60 days into your assignment, depending on plan selection(s)).
  • 401k (Eligible on the first 401k open enrollment date following 6 consecutive months on assignment. 401k Open Enrollment dates are 1/1, 4/1, 7/1, and 10/1).
  • Short Term Disability Insurance.
  • Term Life Insurance Plan.
