The Role We Want You For

The Senior Project Manager will be based on the construction project site and will be responsible for taking utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from conceptual stages through closeout. Provide leadership, technical direction, and deliver the best solutions on design-build BESS and power infrastructure projects valued anywhere from a $60 million to over $250 million. At Clayco, a Senior Project Manager is responsible for assisting with preconstruction, buying out contracts (including BESS equipment, EPC, and interconnection agreements), and managing the project from start to finish through commissioning and energization.

The Specifics of the Role

  • Build client and subcontractor relationships.
  • Team with Architects, Engineers, and Planners to create and manage a design schedule.
  • Establish project forecasts and budgets.
  • Manage costs.
  • Coordinate BESS equipment procurement, interconnection requirements, and utility/grid commissioning.
  • Accept full responsibility for project execution.
  • Mentor and develop project management staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related (Electrical Engineering a plus for BESS projects).
  • 10-15 years of experience managing construction projects ($50+ million) ideally design-build, with direct experience delivering utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar, or other power/renewable energy infrastructure projects.
  • Strong project safety record and commitment to safety and quality.
  • Previous experience with set-up, budget planning, buyout, and cost reporting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction principles, practices, and technology.
  • Working knowledge of BESS technology, lithium-ion battery systems, high-voltage electrical infrastructure, and interconnection/commissioning processes.
  • Previous experience leading a successful project management team.
  • Creative and results-oriented with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to walk the job site, climb ladders, and multi floor scaffolding.
  • Ability to lift objects at least 50lbs.
