Basketball Shot Clock Operator - 2026/2027 Season

Position Summary:

The Basketball Shot Clock Operator is responsible for accurately operating the shot clock during all ERA home basketball games. This individual must be available for all scheduled home games throughout the basketball season, including boys and girls basketball contests. Position reports to the Athletic Director.


Work Year:

Winter Basketball Season


Compensation/Salary:

Commensurate with experience

  • $1,200 stipend, to be paid at the end of the winter basketball season (February 2027)


Benefits Overview:

This position does not qualify for benefits.


Required Qualifications:

  • Must be available for all home boys and girls basketball games.

  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to remain focused in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be willing to learn and consistently apply all shot clock rules and procedures.

  • Previous experience with basketball game operations, scorekeeping, or clock operation is preferred but not required.

  • Must communicate any scheduling conflicts to the Athletic Director as soon as possible.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attends every Eagle Ridge Academy home basketball game throughout the season.

  • Arrives at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time to prepare and test the shot clock equipment.

  • Operates the shot clock accurately and consistently throughout each game.

  • Starts, stops, resets, and turns off the shot clock in accordance with current basketball rules.

  • Understands and follows all applicable CHSAA and NFHS shot clock rules.

  • Completes any required training before the first home basketball game.

  • Communicates effectively with game officials, the game clock operator, scorekeeper, announcer, and Athletic Director.

  • Remains focused and attentive throughout each game.

  • Reports any equipment issues or concerns to the Athletic Director immediately.

  • Maintains professionalism and neutrality while serving as a member of the game management staff.

  • Adheres to all Eagle Ridge Academy policies and procedures.

  • Performs other game-management duties and responsibilities as assigned.
