Job description

Job Title: On-site Estimator

 

This position is responsible for providing full-service estimating and support to our electric utility customers. This support includes working with individual customers who receive service from the utility, collaborating with larger customers such as cities and highway agencies, and undertaking work initiated by the utility.

Job Type: Full-Time +, Exempt.

 

Compensation Range: : $30.00 - $32.50 hourly rate.
In accordance with applicable law, final compensation will be based on the selected candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, geographical location, and the requirements of the position.
Asplundh reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Compile unit estimates from start to finish, including full cover sheet compilation and hazard identification.
  • Apply design knowledge in the preparation of design products for the installation, replacement, and upgrading of power distribution equipment.
  • Analyze engineering problems, use customer-provided and stand-alone tools, and offer effective and efficient resolutions promptly while working on several projects at once.
  • Work well with all internal team members, utility customers, and clients.
  • Read and interpret plans and specifications to understand the full scope of the project.
  • Follow and apply standards based on GIS.
  • Cross-reference all supporting documentation to identify any issues, concerns, and/or inconsistent data.
  • Interface with customers and visit job sites as needed to gather information/data.
  • Utilize GIS documents and the Microsoft Office Suite to compile estimates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Excellent customer service and attention to detail.
  • Focus on ensuring that we deliver to our clients what they need.
  • Some OH/UG utility knowledge is helpful.
  • Electrical knowledge preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional extra hours to support clients and deadlines, including weekends.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze construction drawings and use different locating programs.
  • Ability to multitask and manage estimates for more than one project at any given time.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.

Education & Experience:

  • 1+ years of experience in electrical or electrical utility field preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in construction field preferred, but not required.
  • Associates degree or higher required.

Pre-Screen:

  • Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license required.

Travel Requirements:

  • Weekly local travel in MA and RI (by company vehicle).
  • Travel to Eastern NY as needed (by company vehicle).
