Job description

Salary: $35.00-$37.00 per hour

Holland Power Services Inc., a subsidiary of Alectra Inc., is a leading power line restoration company in North America with operations in New England, New Brunswick, Ontario, and Quebec. We specialize in emergency power restoration, working closely with utility contractors to ensure swift and efficient recovery during storm events.

We are currently seeking a Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our Holland New England division in Bangor, Maine. This role is crucial to maintaining our fleet of heavy trucks and ensuring they are ready for rapid deployment during utility emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs on a fleet of heavy-duty diesel vehicles (bucket trucks, diggers, etc.)
  • Conduct safety and performance inspections in accordance with company and DOT standards
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Assist inmaintaining a ready-state fleet at our Maine yard to support fast mobilization for storm deployments
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations during storm season
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and respond quickly toemergency situation


Qualifications:

  • ASE Master Technician certification in Medium/Heavy Trucks (T1T8) or equivalent high-level trade qualification.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and hydraulic systems, including utility fleet equipment (bucket trucks, diggers, etc.)
  • Advanced diagnostic skills with modern vehicle electronic control systems, telematics, and hydraulic diagnostics
  • Certified in DOT inspections and compliance requirements (including knowledge of FMCSA standards)
  • EPA Section 608 certification for handling refrigerants in HVAC systems
  • Valid CDL Class A or B license with air brake endorsement
  • Proven experience in emergency or utility response settings, where readiness and speed are critical
  • Demonstrated leadership in fleet readiness planning and storm mobilizationlogistics
  • Strong understanding of preventative maintenance scheduling and inventory control
  • Unrelenting commitment and passion to safety, ethics, and continuous improvement
  • Must complete a pre-employment drug test andparticipate in a random drug & alcohol testing pool
  • Must have a valid passport. Must be legally eligible to travel between the United States and Canada and able to obtain and maintain the required travel documentation.

Must be physically capable of:

  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Working in awkward positions under vehicles and on equipment
  • Standing, kneeling, or crouching for extended periods
  • Performing tasks outdoors in all weather conditions
