Job description

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Android Application Development Engineer with strong expertise in Kotlin and hands-on experience building robust, scalable Android applications. The ideal candidate will have practical exposure to Android Jetpack components and experience integrating application functions with Android platform and middleware service APIs, particularly in areas such as Vehicle HAL (VHAL)Audio Framework, or other system-level Android services. Experience in automotive or embedded Android environments is highly desirable. Candidate shall also be collaborating and working cross functionally with designers, technical artists, and platform software engineers to develop apps for an enhanced in-vehicle user experience. 
 

 
Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications (Kotlin, Jetpack etc.)
  • Architect and implement application features using modern Android development practices 
  • Integrate applications with Android middleware and platform services, including but not limited to:  
  • Vehicle HAL (VHAL) 
  • Android Audio Framework 
  • Other system or hardware abstraction APIs 
  • Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to industry best practices. 
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to deliver high-quality products. 
  • Debug and resolve application, platform, and service-level issues across different Android layers 
  • Optimize application performance, memory usage, and responsiveness 
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical decision-making 
  • Ensure adherence to Android best practices, coding standards, and security guidelines 
  • Support integration, testing, and deployment activities across multiple Android versions and hardware configurations 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Android application development 
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin 
  • Solid understanding of Android SDK, application lifecycle, and UI frameworks 
  • Hands-on experience interfacing with VHAL, Audio Framework, or similar Android platform services 
  • Experience working in Linux-based development environments
