Summary:

The Application Development Leader is responsible for leading the design, development, and ongoing support of technology solutions that power mortgage origination, servicing, and corporate operations. This role ensures the successful delivery of scalable, compliant, and high-performing applications, including Loan Origination Systems (LOS), integrations, and customer-facing platforms. The position partners closely with business leaders to enhance borrower experience, optimize workflows, and support regulatory compliance within the mortgage industry.


Essential Functions:

  • Job functions are the primary duties and responsibilities an employee is expected to perform as part of their role.   • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software developers, business analysts and system administrators supporting mortgage technology platforms.
  • Oversee development and enhancement of key mortgage systems, including Loan Origination Systems (e.g., Encompass), point-of-sale platforms, and servicing integrations.
  • Partner with business stakeholders (Human Resources, Compliance, Operations) to gather requirements and deliver technology solutions that improve loan lifecycle efficiency.
  • Drive the application development roadmap aligned with business growth, regulatory requirements, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure applications comply with mortgage industry regulations and standards (e.g., TRID, RESPA, HMDA, data security and privacy requirements).
  • Manage and optimize system integrations between LOS, document vendors, and other third-party platforms.
  • Lead Agile development practices, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of enhancements and projects.
  • Establish and enforce coding standards, architecture best practices, and secure development processes.
  • Monitor system performance, stability, and scalability
  • Collaborate with IT leadership on cloud strategy, data architecture, and enterprise system design.
  • Manage vendor relationships related to mortgage technology solutions and development tools.
  • Provide reporting and visibility into development initiatives, risks, and outcomes to executive leadership.
  • Supporting day-to-day tasks and cross-training in other areas for coverage as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with system integrations, APIs, and third-party vendor platforms commonly used in mortgage operations.
  • Proficiency in modern development technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., .NET, Azure, SQL Server, APIs).
  • Experience leading Agile/Scrum teams and DevOps practices.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
