Basic Purpose

We are looking for an Application Development Engineer (ADE) that will develop new business and support existing accounts in the focused market space. The Application Development Engineer (ADE) will be responsible for providing material, application, and testing expertise to OEMs and customers. As an Application Development Engineer (ADE) the person will create, analyze, and improve processes through project management, cross-functional collaboration, and effective communication to internal and external customers to optimize cost.

Position Responsibilities 

Strive to understand customer needs by developing relationships with engineers, specifiers, and suppliers.

Position materials in industry applications at OEMs and molders.

  Coordinate efforts to grow sales with OEMs, molders, salespeople, CAMs, suppliers, and Nexeo Plastics Technical support staff.

Assist in materials training at customers and with Nexeo Plastics salespeople

Maintain existing and establish new customer relationships with emphasis on key accounts

Translate technology/growth opportunities to counterparts in other territories.

Drive specific applications for push products from the existing and new products portfolios.

Lead visits to customer sites both independently and in coordination with the sales organization.

Educate customers by delivering scientifically based presentations

Gather market competitive intelligence including new technologies, market trends, IP opportunities, etc.

Provide strategic input for future product developments

Suggest modifications to existing product portfolio on customer input and market analysis

Perform promotional activities including participation in trade shows and conferences, and assist in the preparation of sales tools

Work effectively and coordinate with counterparts globally

Develop and adhere to project timelines.

Effective management of multiple projects, ensuring clear alignment of goals and deliverables with business and market needs.

Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience & Skills)

Bachelor of Science Degree with plastics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field preferred.

5+ years of experience in the plastics industry required.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to conduct training sessions and build presentations for customers (internal & external) as necessary.

Must be a team player and leader on assigned projects. Must be self-starter with ability to establish, prioritize, and organization task, meetings, projects, and initiatives.

  Travel to customer sites and company meetings (50% travel)

Strong computer skills required, especially in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
