Job description

The Manager, Application Development will be a part of the transformational journey to deliver a best-in-class transactional automotive retail and marketing systems to support AutoNation's business lines, across all channels. This role requires deep technical knowledge and the ability to partner with both business and technical teams to deliver strategic goals.
At this time, we are not considering applicants who require employment authorization sponsorship (1) as a condition of eligibility for employment with the Company or (2) at any point during the term of their employment. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship by the Company.
The Manager, Application Development will manage one or more delivery teams and is responsible for the planning, design and delivery of business-critical projects. This includes defining the team structure, staffing the teams, and developing resources.
In addition to design and delivery responsibilities, the Manager, Application Development must develop strong relationships with business stakeholders. This requires partnering with business teams to develop requirements that enhance business capabilities and enable AutoNation's strategic initiatives. The position must collaborate with business sponsors and stakeholders to present projects and roadmaps to IT leadership.
Job Responsibilities:
• Architect and design enterprise software solutions that are aligned with AutoNation's strategic architecture
• Posses in-depth knowledge of the technical area supervised and serve as the technical resource to the team
• Lead delivery teams to implement enterprise software solutions including managing work assignments
• Work with the PMO for project planning, estimation, execution and budget management
• Resource development of team members
• Work closely with the Scrum Master to maintain the project backlog and drive process improvement
• Respond to incidents, participate in any alerts, escalations and/or recovery procedures necessary to ensure system functionality is restored in a timely manner
• Lead the rollout of new applications, problem fixes, and enhancements of software
• Lead teams in the configuration management and deployment of code and configuration items across environments and into production
• Ensure teams adhere to programming and enterprise architectural standards
• Coach and mentor leads and developers in technical best practices and career objectives including goal setting and performance reviews
• Partner with Business Analysis and Quality Assurance team members to ensure project success
• Complete work assignments and perform appropriate follow up to ensure that tasks are completed on time
Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering, or similar field
• Minimum 10 years of experience demonstrating growth through technical roles
• Demonstrated experience in building and leading teams to deliver complex software solutions leveraging Java, Angular and AWS Technologies
• Understanding of end-to-end design/development/delivery of software applications with high quality and reliability
• Ability to work in a mission critical fast-paced environment with ability to work flexible hours
• Demonstrated experience partnering with business sponsors to refine and document complex business needs
• Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
• Experience planning projects including staffing and budget management for projects between $500k to $2MM
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Must meet company's requirements for employment
• Valid in-state driver's license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record
Physical Requirements
• Ability to travel approximately 10% between AutoNation work locations as required by work assignments and delivery schedules
• Work with computers and other common office equipment
• Work location is in a corporate office environment with no special physical requirements beyond what is normally expected in a typical modern corporate office
The anticipated base salary for this role is 140,000.00 - 175,000.00 annually. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for participation in the company's annual bonus program, the terms and payout of which are determined at eh company's discretion and subject to change.
