As aaCardiac Sonographer II, you willareport to the Director.aUnder the general supervision of the performing physician,ayou’llaperform cardiac ultrasoundanon-invasive diagnostic studies of the heart and/or other related studies.a 

Cardiac SonographeraJob Responsibilitiesa 

• Perform Cardiac Ultrasound Tests:aConduct 2-D, 3-D, M-Mode, and color doppler tests.a 

• Patient Interaction:aPrepare patients for tests, explain procedures, and ensure their comfort.a 

• Data Analysis:aRecordaaccurateaimagery, perform calculations, and provide preliminary findings.a 

• Equipment Management:aMaintainaand transport ultrasound equipment, ensuring it is clean and functional.a 

• Scheduling and Coordination:aAssist with scheduling and coordination of the echo lab and physician schedules.a 

• Emergency Response:aUse your knowledge of cardiac diseases to handle emergencies and notify physicians as needed.a

What You Bringa 

As a Cardiac Sonographerayou bring knowledge of general anatomy and physiology, basic physical principles of ultrasound, basic mathematics, and medical terminology.aaYou willaknow detailed normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy.aaYou’llaknow cross sectional anatomy of all imaging planes, techniques for recording all sector images andadistinguishanormal from abnormal findings.aaThe Cardiac Sonographerawillahave a thorough understanding of the anatomy and pathophysiology of cardiac disease processes and be able to deviate from standard techniques when necessary to extend the scope of the examinations appropriately toaeliminateaabnormalities.aaYou willaknow the function of equipment controls, techniques used in all types ofaechocardiograms, andahave sufficient skill in the performance of these techniquesaso as toaproduce a complete anatomic and functional record for the physician to interpret.aaYou’llabe competent in making quantitative calculations from Echo dataaacquired.a

Required Qualificationsa 

• High school diplomaarequired.a 

• Continuing education through college-level coursework and/or specialized technical training in cardiac ultrasound.a 

• Credentialing required as one of the following:a 

• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in adult and/or pediatric echocardiography through ARDMS, ora 

• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International), with active registry status.a 

• Registry-eligible candidates may be considered but must obtain required credentialing within 2 years of employment.a 

• Basic EKG interpretation skills and knowledge of related cardiac testingapreferred.a
