Job description

Aloft Charleston is looking for a Front Office Manager to assist in leading our front desk team to excellence!
The Front Office Manager is directly responsible for all front desk personnel and ensures proper completion of all front office duties. They will direct and coordinate the activities of the front desk, reservations and guest services as well as prepare monthly reports and budget for the front office department.
Responsibilities
  • Represent the hotel in a professional, knowledgeable and eloquent manner.

  • Trains all front office personnel.

  • Participates in the selection of front office personnel.

  • Schedules the front office staff.

  • Verifies that accurate room status information is maintained and properly communicated.

  • Resolve guest problems quickly, efficiently and courteously.

  • Responsible for monitoring and handling Guest Satisfaction Scores in relation to the front desk

  • Updated group information. Maintains, monitors and prepares group requirement and relays information to appropriate personnel.

  • Supervises workload during shifts.

  • Evaluates job performance of each front office employee.

  • Works within the allocated budget for the front office.

  • Checks cashiers in and out and verifies bank deposits at the end of each shift.

  • Enforces all cash-handling and credit policies.

  • Conducts regularly scheduled meeting with front office personnel.

  • Maximize room revenue and occupancy be reviewing status daily.

  • Review daily front office work and activity reports generated by Night Audit.

  • Maintain an impeccably clean, safe and inviting atmosphere inside and out.

  • Ensure that all interactions with guests, managers and other employees are always friendly, attentive, courteous and efficient.

  • Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment which focuses on the guest, through employee development and motivation.

  • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication and teamwork with all employees and department heads.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of one year of front desk supervisor experience.

  • Experience handling cash, accounting procedures and general administrative tasks.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with an emphasis in Hotel Management, Hospitality Management and/or related fields.

  • Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and hotel management systems.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills and must be able to work a flexible work schedule as the hours for this management position will vary.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • Must be fluent in English.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, or hear.

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
