Position Summary Information
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates for the lecturer position must have at least a master's degree in health administration or a closely related field and relevant work experience.
For a teaching assistant professor position, a terminal degree in health administration or a closely related field and relevant work experience is required.
Areas of Interest (No Minimum Level Required)
The department invites applications for multiple faculty positions in health care management with areas of expertise in healthcare finance, human resources, leadership, and quality management for 11 month positions.
Applicants with teaching and professional experience who can facilitate students' application of principles and concepts in healthcare scenarios will be given strong consideration.
Applicants with health care industry or other relevant experience are preferred.
Successful applicants will have a focus on teaching excellence in both the traditional face-to-face and online environments.

Description of the Department or Unit
The Department of Nutrition and Health Care Management has 25 full-time faculty and approximately 600 undergraduate and graduate students. The Nutrition and Foods programs include an undergraduate Didactic Program in Dietetics, a combined Dietetic Internship/MS Nutrition Program, online graduate programs in Public Health Nutrition including master's and certificate programs, and a new Graduate Program in Public Health Nutrition and Dietetics. The Public Health Nutrition concentration curriculum is aligned with competencies defined by the World Public Health Nutrition Association and the Association of Graduate Programs in Public Health Nutrition. The undergraduate program also includes concentrations in Nutrition and Wellness, an accelerated admissions track for the Master's program in Public Health Nutrition, and Food Systems Management. Both the undergraduate dietetics program and the dietetic internship are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). Appalachian State University's Beaver College of Health Sciences (BCHS) is transforming the health and quality of lives of individuals, families, and communities through inclusive practices, interprofessional collaboration, and innovation in teaching, scholarship, service, and clinical outreach. The BCHS supports over 3,400 students in nine undergraduate and nine graduate degree programs, organized into six academic departments. The programs are located in Boone in the Holmes Convocation Center and the Leon Levine Hall of Health Sciences, the cornerstone of Boone's Wellness District. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Primary instructional duties may include introduction to healthcare systems, leadership, quality management, operations, project management, and/or data management at the undergraduate level with course assignments predominantly online.
Successful applicants will have a focus on teaching excellence in both the traditional face-to-face and online environments. Faculty members are expected to participate in service activities at the program, department, college, university, profession, and community levels.
Responsibilities also include advising, coaching, and mentoring students. Remote positions are considered for the qualified candidate.

ABD with reduction in rank and salary: ABD will be considered for this position. Evidence of successful defense of the dissertation must be received by July 31 for a fall hire or November 30 for a spring hire. If confirmation of defense is not provided by the deadline, the candidate will receive a new one-year fixed-term contract and be hired at the rank of Instructor. The candidate's salary will also be reduced to a lower rate commensurate with other full-time instructors in the same department. However, if degree verification is provided before the end of the one-year fixed-term contract, the candidate will be returned to the rank of assistant professor with commensurate compensation beginning July 1 of the following academic year.
No ABD consideration: Only candidates with an earned doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited institution will be considered for the position. Since ABD will not meet the minimum requirements, ABD will not be considered.
